QB Carson Wentz NDSU 6'5 225 Lbs

He has gifts. He can make any throw and he can make it at almost any velocity. I am not sure there is a prospect that can throw the ball harder or further. He has a gun in the truest sense of the word. Now, to make his skillset even more exciting, he can run as well as most QBs could hope to run. This helps him if he were to keep it on a zone read or a 3rd down scramble, but moreso, it helps him move the pocket and keep a play alive. He rolls to each side of the field and then has the mechanics to properly reset his body to fire a strike to the outside of routes to either sideline. His motion is more compact than Paxton Lynch in that with Wentz, it often looks like a flick of the wrist. It also should be said that his ball placement is top-notch. He not only can hit receivers right at their facemask, but he also can deliver balls where only they can catch them. He is an athlete who also seems to see the field very well. He is in total control of the game.

This is our guy. We need a real franchise qb. I would not hesitate at 7 to snatch him up.

We just need Cleveland to do their thing and take Goff. Then we have a chance at Wentz.

if we can't get goff, then i hope we grab wentz at some point
Phil Savage, the former Browns general manager who's now the executive director of the Senior Bowl, told reporters Monday that Wentz could end up going in the top 10 of the 2016 NFL Draft. "With Carson Wentz, most of the scouts I talked to during the year probably thought he was worthy of second-round consideration," Savage said. "But a second-round grade in September is a high grade for a small school. As the fall progressed, then it became, 'Well, no, he's more of a first-rounder.' And within the last two weeks, I had two phone calls from (NFL personnel) friends of mine saying that Wentz isn't just a first-rounder, he's going in the top 10.

"So, there's a real buzz about him."

The Senior Bowl is the most prestigious of the postseason all-star games. Practices begin Tuesday, and almost every NFL coach, scout and personnel exec will be in attendance. Wentz and his fellow Senior Bowlers will also meet with representatives of interested teams this week in Mobile.

Wentz will play for the North team this week and be coached by the Cowboys coaching staff. The Cowboys have the No. 4 pick in this year's draft, and though it's very early in the process, NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah had Wentz going No. 4 to the Cowboys in his first mock draft after the early entries were finalized.

Josh Norris of RotoWorld wrote that he has seen "more than enough to rank [Wentz] as the top quarterback" at the Senior Bowl.

North Dakota State listed Wentz at 6-foot-6, 235. He'll be officially weighed and measured in front of NFL scouts and coaches at the Senior Bowl Tuesday morning.

Wentz captained two FCS national championship teams and had a 64 percent completion percentage in his college career. He missed eight games last fall due to a broken wrist but returned for the national title game.

It's possible to rise too-fast too-soon in #NFL draft process. Keep it in mind w/ QB Carson Wentz. Raised expectations = raised nitpicking.

Wentz is a souped up version of Alex Smith to me. Bigger and stronger arm, but very smart and athletic like Smith. https://twitter.com/sbruss81/status/689288232920576000 …

Carson KaeperSmith.

I laughed

I've not spoken to 1 person yet in Mobile that did not mention Carson Wentz. The buzz is indescribable. Massive opportunity & stage for him

Wentz's stock is exponentially skyrocketing. A solid performance this weekend can potentially cement his spot at #2 overall.

I want Goff or Connor Cook.

Or both if Cook drops far enough.
I'm still having a hard time believing Baalke is gonna draft a QB in the 1st with his history. If they do offense, I just have a hunch it's for an offensive lineman or Treadwell.

Then, they go after a guy like Vernon Adams in the 2nd or 3rd.

What history ? The only time we can say we needed a QB and were in position to take one high, we passed because he relied on his offensive minded HC and took the guy coach wanted.

If we take one in the first this year it will tell you that it is Kelly's guy or a guy Kelly believes in.
