I wouldn't, he is a 2 down back and that doesn't interest me.

LOL. That is another bonafide hater comment. Wouldn't take Fournette at 25.

OK, bro, whatever you say. LOL.

My ignore list is growing by the minute. LOL.

I dont know how many of you were around here in 2006, but that year would have been 1000000x s**ttier without the excitement of Frank Gore. And although we didnt get to the post season until 2011, Frank got people excited for 49ers football again.

Frank had a pretty good career here, and if we feed him the football we likely are 6-0 and not 5-1.

Fournette can have that kind of impact and set the tone for whats to come from this new era of 49ers football.

Word!!
Podcast just confirms what a lot are thinking. No clear two, trading back is the best choice if possible.

OK doke, whether you agree with Matt Miller's latest mock draft of taking Fournette at 2 or not, you can hear it directly from the horse's mouth when all your questions have been answered as to why he would pick Fournette as 9ers' top pick in this Niners Wire's podcast interview.

I don't care whos podcast it is. He is f**king wrong. Id bet you 10 million to one if I could. He doesn't fit Shanahans system and he would never be our pick even if we traded back and he was available at 25.

OK, no problem. From this point, you can ignore all pro-Fournette postings.

He is a three down back. Im certain he will prove that in the NFL.

He is not a natural pass catcher, but thats more due to experience than it is skill set. He has the tools to be a three down back no doubt about it. He just hasn't been asked to catch a lot of balls.

Lets compare him to one of the best third down backs in the history of the league. Frank Gore is one of the best third down backs in the league STILL and no one would call him a passing threat, and frank has dropped plenty of balls in his career as well.

He can perform as well as Frank Gore did as a pass catcher. Frank was under used in that regard as well. Can he block as well? IMO no one has been a better third down pass protection back than Frank gore in the history of the NFL, but i think he can learn to be an efficient third down back for pass protection as well.

He is also eager to do both and develop both skill sets further.

In 2015 he ranked out higher than Cooks in yards per pass route run and pass-blocking efficiency by a pretty large margin. He was injured last season. Facts.

OK, I guess I will have to decipher what the podcast actually said as some people seem to be having comprehension issues with Matt Miller's comments.

1) In short, Matt is saying Fournette is BPA after Myles Garrett.

2) While he is saying there isn't a player that is worth that 2 pick from a positional value standpoint amongst his favourite players (Fournette, Foster and Adams), he said he will still pick Fournette simply because he is the best player after Myles Garrett.

3) In an ideal situation, he would trade down, but he would still pick Fournette BPA.

4) And because in his opinion Fournette is such an outstanding player, it will counter any argument about picking an RB at 2, addressing other needs, so on and so forth.

5) Fournette will be able to establish an identity for this new 49ers offense.

Hope that helps.

Absolutely. And I would just like to supplement this clip with Mayock's clip which shows how he tracks down a long pass and catches it plus another clip that illustrates his amazing, yet underrated and even ignored agility.

That should put everything to bed. Can't catch? Can't cut? Totally not true.

Notice how all those cuts are on a vertical axis. He's already in motion. Nobody ever questioned his ability to that.

His issues occur when you force him to stop his feet and use lateral agility. His lower body is stiff, and as a result, he has issues with stopping and restarting his feet. If he doesn't play behind a line that creates a runway for him, he's going to suffer. He can't create on his own.

I know you love to bring up beast mode--which is a terrible comparison because they're nothing alike. Look at beast mode's ability to stop and restart with no issues at all. Note how he creates on his own after he presses the line of scrimmage. Marshawn Lynch is ridiculously explosive out of a stand still. He doesn't need to be in motion to plow someone over. He also runs with a wider base(hip flexibility/dexterity that Fournette lacks) that allows him to play through contact without having to have a full head of steam. Fournette can't do that.

He's by far the best offensive player in the draft, without a doubt. He can fit any and every offense.

I prefer defense or trade down at #2 but the value is definitely there to take him at #2.
