Rams trade 1st round pick to Patriots for Brandin Cooks

Watkins for Cooks seems like a near wash in terms of skillset. Obviously Cooks is more dependable and has more on his resume. Big part of that is playing with Brees/Brady. But in McVay's offense, the ball is spread around so I don't see Cooks suddenly becoming a go-to guy. Their offense will still revolve around Gurley.

This. Rams are division champs and likely will be again. Jimmy will send this franchise skyrocketing, but to think we're gonna just suddenly pass the Rams because of that is silly. They ALSO have a franchise QB.....and Gurley.......and Cooks........and Donald........and Suh.......and Peters......and Talib.....

I gotta agree with you guys, some people here are unreal. The Rams just had one of the greatest offseasons ever with those additions, no way around that or denying it. Yes we have Jimmy, but football is a team game and they have a roster full of all pro/pro bowl talent. How many of those do we have?
of course this is the truth. some guy actually said yesterday that cooks is just marginally better than goodwin.. come on. i get being a fan but do not stick your head in the sand

They have a sexy roster in the short-term, but if they don't win a Super Bowl in the next two seasons (they very well could win one, hence 'if') then these moves are a huge failure. Doesn't matter how sexy the talent level is on April 4, 2018. All that matters is the results.

Yeah I get it, this very well could explode because of those personalities. I was just saying that those who are denying that their roster isn't fantastic and a lot better than ours is being naive. End of day football is a business and they compete for championships, kudos to the Lambs for doing what they did to put themselves in better position for that. Sometimes you have to take chances and see how it plays out.

Tell me how much better Cooks is. His best attribute has been speed and he's not faster than Goodwin. Hes benefited from playing with TWO HOF quarterbacks in high volume passing offenses. Tell me I'm wrong... if the SB is any indication he apparently has Kap level field awareness too lol. Once Goodwin wasn't catching passes from Hoyer and Taylor, not exactly on the level of Brees and Brady, he looked great
Shocker what a good QB can do for a WR. Yes this improves the rams offense, but the've been mocked to draft a WR like Moore or Sutton or Ridley at 23 so I don't see this as much of an improvement.

Let's see, Suh is a one yr deal, and now Cooks is too. I don't recall whether Peters and Talib are one yr deals also. Are they? My inclination is yes. IF so then Rams are all in for this yr and have peed away starters in rds 1 and 2...bona fide starters, and left themselves open for having a gaggle of guys this yr to sign for next yr, That is a plan? Sounds like a Las Vegas type plan. Personally i like the build for the future plan like Kyle and john have been doing. Rams had better talent when McVey arrived than did JL and KS. So they are ahead of us, but if i were a rams fan, i would not like this kind of screwing around.

I think the Rams did help out Bellichek tho, because now he has #23, #31 , #63 and and our former pick in rd 2 . He is loaded for moving up and you know he has to be looking QB. Of the top 4 picks you know CLEVE isn't going to pick QB at both #1 and #4. So one qB will make it to #5. But the fireworks around those early picks are going to be something else. Also, do you realize BB got a 2nd for Jimmy but he got more for Cooks than he did for Jimmy. So he either took advantage of the rams or ....well, rams got had here. They gave up more for a questionable #1 WR(glad he isn't ours) than we gave up for the best QB that we have had in the last 20 yrs...and Jimmy is slated to be in the same ballpark as ARodgers , and Brady,

True that is based on only 5 games but...bottom line in trades between BB and Rams/ SF, we did way better than rams did. Way better.

Rams should skip through the line and collect their SB trophy.

lol Rams winning in the offseason

every time the Rams make a move, the Madden crowd expects us to match them, move for move

that's twice now Cooks has been traded away for a 1st rounder , I don't see him doing $hit against our secondary
Giants may get desperate to trade OBJ right up to draft day, still think we give offer then a 2nd and 3rd rounder and either they take it or they don't, we are good in any outcome

Rams are a better overall team, we have the better qb. It's a qb league. I still like our chances but don't kid yourself if Jimmy got hurt we're a 4 win team. Like Philly if Goff got hurt St Louis could still win the division.

If Jimmy gets hurt we are done obviously. If he stays healthy we are better than the Rams when he is under center.

I think the Suh signing is slightly overrated, only because he is getting older and has never played in a 3-4. I do think out of all the newcomers the top guys they will keep is cooks and peters, only because they're younger and they gave up a 1st for cooks.

Agree if I were a rams fan, it would be exciting but scary. It'll all pay off if they win a superbowl, but if they don't they are setback for a little bit, unless goff transcends into eliteness.

Goff is already elite, right??? I mean the QB of the NFC West champs, highest scoring team last year, 3800 yards, 28 TDs and only 7 INTs!!!

Our third this year is a better bird in hand than what they may get next year if they don't resign him. That's the absolute most I would offer for him given the issues with the tape. Well that and his salary demands. Not even sure I would offer our third until the issues that may surround that tape are worked out.

Put me down with Mojave here. We right now have enough WR/TE/RB talent for Jimmy to average over 300yds/game in a 5 game season.. Note also that our #1 (questionable) WR never caught a pass from jimmy. In other words we are set at receiver, and dont need anyone else...EXCEPT in RZ and at Goal line. Sure, there we need someone extraordinary... somebody who can out leap DBs and still hang onto the ball. Is that OBJ's forte....leaping catches in the Ez? No, he is the guy who can take the top off, and also move the chains. And we already got a burner in Marquise. So is OBJ REALLY that big a deal for us? I like Mojave's "not more than a 3rd for him" and i don't expect the NYGnats to take that kind of deal. I would much rather keep our WRs/TEs(ok upgrade here)/RB(we did upgrade on receiver here)...so i am not just raving wild about a guy we could trade for when we really need that Jimmy graham type guy. Just my opinion, but i don't think OBJ is a fit for us. Sure an upgrade, but as one wag said, "what , you want another WR so that jimmyG can throw for 350 yds /game instead of 300? "

And i agree with that line of thinking. Get me the tall big hands super leaper for EZ /RZ and sign me up. OBJ...i think that's the wrong course. Now, for our lower 3rd? Ok, make that deal. But giving away more than that...no thanks.

He's not imo. Wouldn't be surprised if he took a step back. Gurley and McVay will keep him afloat, but I'm not sold on him yet. I had my doubts going into their playoff game, and he reinforced them in that game.
