I like Ansah, but I'm not sure it'll be worth the price. While we have a gluttony of cap room we can eat it up pretty quick with guys like this. If you sign these guys like they'll want to get paid, Ansah, Butler, Norwell - at market value we're staring at about 37 mil per year in contracts. Give Jimmy 25 per and we're at 62 mil already.

Then add in Trenton brown and we're at at least 74 mil.

yep and without the rookie class contracts too. That eats up a lot of space and would actually put us against the cap next year with only the rollover left to carry any extensions for future players.

like I said, I'm not against Ansah, I just think the coin for the production and limited role whilst also having injury concerns make him better suited for a "win now" team.

Might be some solid vets getting cut this yr

Wouldn't mind Robert Quinn

from that list i liked Yanda and Randall. Both could be had on modest contracts.

Norwell is going to get around $13m per year. I don't think the 49ers give a guy that isn't a great fit in this scheme that type of money.

How good is Pugh at guard? I haven't seen much of him. The only time I saw him was when the 49ers played the Giants. He was at right tackle, and Ronald Blair took him to the woodshed.

I like Ryan Jensen, Kyle Fuller, and Taylor Gabriel.

I wouldn't hate it if they brought in Jensen, but I honestly think the 49ers re-sign Kilgore and sign someone like Wesley Johnson to apprentice behind him. Kilgore was a mess early in the season, and his injury history is troubling, but he ended the season strong, and he's got Jimmy G in his corner.

I'd prefer either Fuller or Rashaan Melvin over Trumaine Johnson, who I think will fall off soon and struggle to justify a contract he won't see the end of.

Taylor Gabriel is a guy I think Shanahan can bring in for chump change and squeeze some big plays out of.

I'd like to see Ansah line up next to Buckner and prove he can make plays on a more talented front. Word is he's a bad fit for Patricia's scheme in Detroit...

Wanted that guy BAD in 2011, but got scared of his narrow spinal cord. Hasn't meant a damn thing in the league, though, so party on if he shakes free. Probably wants out of Phillip's 3-4 in LA.
Oh yeah, I forgot Ansah. I'd like him on the Paraag special.

The guys who may get released or traded to create cap room is going to be extremely important to us because the current list of UFA's isn't that appealing outside of maybe Ansah. Most of the guys everyone in here are clamoring for aren't even system fits.

I can see us going after guys like Aqib Talib, Robert Quinn, Justin Houston, Emmanuel Sanders, Cameron Wake and many other vets who may become victims of the cap, but would be big time additions to our team if we want to add productive vets to hold down spots until we find younger long-term solutions.

Honestly, I don't get it vs agree because he's coming off a major knee injury with a history of injuries.

Have you put up a moke yet bud? I look for it every season.

Even if moke.
This poll has a disturbing absence of Ryan Jensen and Trey Burton.
Ansah is an average pass rusher at best. He'll be overpaid because he's at a premium position.. the same way quarterbacks are always overpaid. Why do it? Teams don't let good pass rushers go because they're too valuable. We need to either draft our pass rusher or manufacture pass rush. I say focus on offensive line help and defense in free agency.

Serious question everybody, why did Bill Belichick let his best pass rusher go (Chandler Jones)? Too much money for a non QB. S. Gilmore is an exception, Bill's time is limited, he's in win now mode, he would never make the B. Cooks/ S. Gilmore deals 10 years ago.

If you hang out with idiots, you'll become an idiot, just saying. Let's think like the second greatest franchise Patriots (49ers #1 of course, Bill Walsh never overpaid).

Let's win some more Lombardi Trophies, we have T. Brady's heir apparent, that's a BIG F****** DEAL!!!

If you're going to spend the money that Trumaine Johnson/ Malcom Butler are going to demand, they better be as good as Deion Sanders. Obviously, they're nothing close, PASS!!!

Yeah, that would be a nice haul... And they're all relatively young.
