The two guys I've been gravitating towards are Ansah and Pugh. Especially if Ansah can be had for fewer years.

A great edge rusher is arguably the most impactful position we can add, and I don't think they want to have to take another d lineman in the first round. You've got a few years until Buckner/S Thomas have to get paid, so offer Ziggy a front loaded contract.

Pugh is a great left guard, and an average right tackle. His athleticism suits our scheme, and seems like a team guy. That versatility is a huge plus, especially after seeing Beadles pushed into the starting lineup.

This is a great draft class for centers, so sign Pugh, let Kilgore ride for one more year, and draft Daniels, Price, Ragnow, or Cole with one of our 3rd rounders, as well as Wyatt Teller in the 4th. Our line would be set for next year, with solid prospects for the future.

Teams don't let good pass rushers go because they're too valuable. We need to either draft our pass rusher or manufacture pass rush. I say focus on offensive line help and defense in free agency.

That's clearly an exageration. He's above average. He's not likely to be top 10 (or even 15), but you always pay premiums to sign the top FA in each position.

I think he's 37th out of 108 for all qualifying edge rushers according to pff. So above average slightly but not worth the contract he'll be looking for. If we want a guy that seems like a good pass rusher but really isn't why don't we just draft Arden Key out of LSU? Lol

37th and 12 sacks for a guy that was injuried most of the season, that's not bad at all. We could spell him with Dumervill and Marsh to keep him fresh. He's probably going to be the only pass rusher available that has the ability to dominate as a pass rusher.

I'm all for more talent on defense and Ziggy would be a great addition. When Dumervil/Marsh are effective coming off the edge our defense looks pretty solid. We need more guys that can get after the QB. Spending a few extra mil a year to get him is just the nature of FA. Most FAs don't live up to their contracts, but you gotta pay to play and that's what we want to do.

BTW, Arden Key could be our answer at LEO if Lynch is satisfied with him interviews. He's got to answer questions about what his big distraction (substance abuse, mental issues, who knows ??) and what the weight gain was all about last year. If that checks out and he's in great shape this offseason, he's right in the mix at 9/10. He's an excellent pass rusher, yet mediocre against the run. His skills still make him a fine fit at LEO. A LEO isn't usually asked to factor into the run D. Seattle would allow Clemons and Avril to focus on the QB and Kam would drop down closer to the line, with Earl playing shallow center field to cover the gap. If the run goes behind the LEO the LBs slide over and both safeties are waiting. It worked in the defense's favor.

Key isn't a perfect prospect, particularly for a 4-3 base end, but as a pass rusher he is very good. He's not liked on the Zone, but don't discredit his ability to pass rush.

My dream right now is to grab Ziggy, Allen Robinson on a one year deal kinda like Alshon, Ryan Jensen and Kyle fuller in FA, with some other mid level guys that can be great depth. Then in the draft we either take Nelson, Josh Jackson or Roquan Smith and if we need to, package a couple of our 3rds or later picks to move up into the 2nd and grab Anthony Miller.
I voted Norwell, but Pugh would be an upgrade. I hope we get Fuller, Butler, Norwell or Pugh, and Moncrief. Then Nelson in Draft. I think the Robinson train is dead guys. There are articles saying he's getting tagged.

I do like the idea of Butler coming on. I think our scheme would fit him really well. Plus, we already know that a SB stage isn't too big for him.

Last three are three of my biggest wants. Colvin is the man but we got his position locked down with Williams. Would like fuller though, and wouldn't complain about Johnson.

Thats obviously assuming they all hit free agency.

Not going to break the bank and fills a need... red zone threat. Not sure his ceiling is real high but a good floor/frame to build on in our offense. Hope the FO and Kyle take a look. IMO better option than gambling in the draft and expecting production immediately from a rookie.

(Been on this message board for over 15 years... just for the comments and never made an account... now I gotta wait 7 days to post a topic! welcome me to the zone and give this guy his own thread!)

Yeah, I dunno we are right there again. Won't ever be fooled come April 1, WZ dun seen it all now!

Looking forward to what we do with the rest of offseason. I like Jerrick... why not with Weston and took we me a minute to come to terms with Sherm on the squad. Even this dude from SD is intriguing, Let's go get the rest of our needs in FA (to a point) and go BPA in the draft. Lynch and Kyle #brickbybrick #ninergang.
