I know there is no salary cap, but most if not all teams are operating as if there is.
According to what I could see on salary cap hell, we don't have room to sign what he will command.

In today's NF where the rules are set for a passing game, good defenses need two safeties that can cover, not just one who plays "rover" while the other attacks the ball carrier - that is an old school game that is no longer played.
I don't know if Atogwe will be available or not but if he is, it would make sense to partner him with Goldson on obvious passing downs, or against passing teams like AZ, then use Mays/Lewis on running situations.

Picking up OJ wouldn't mean they don't WANT Goldson, it would mean they had the chance to pick up a better FS. Goldson would just have to become a backup, which I would be perfectly fine with because Atogwe would be a big upgrade.

Atogwe would be a good pickup. But I find the chances of getting him unlikely especially with Mays in the fold. Goldson is already angling for a new contract and Atogwe wants one as well. Atogwe will be commanding big money in the market, and I don't see us spending so much money on the Safety position considering Mays still has to be signed as well.

Our secondary needs help and OJ would be a huge grab for us imo. Lewis isn't going to be around much longer and if we need the depth. Think of all the thinks Manusky could do with Mays alone, he's not gonna be limited to just the SS position.

I dont get why people bash Goldson. You have to remember last year was his first as a starter and he preformed very well.

If we didn't draft Taylor Mays and wanted to move Goldson to SS, then yeah I would be all over this move but at this point it is better to leave Goldson at FS and hope mays develops at SS.

Not only Lewis gets cut, but we DONT resign a rising start like Goldson.. Too bad we drafted Mays as we couldve put Goldson to SS, and bought Atogwe in..I think its a case of too much-too little-too late
