If we get McNabb, who's to say we'll keep Raye as OC? McNabb has a few good years left in him, so it would make sense to bring in an OC to install a WCO and build it to fit the talents of McNabb, Gore, Davis, Crabtree, Morgan, Walker, etc.

So now we should bring in McChoke and rebuild everything around him....

I have a better idea, Say no to McChoke!

Let's see, McChoke led the Eagles to four consecutive NFC East division championships (2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004), five NFC Championship Games (2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2008), and one Super Bowl, but you'd rather have Alex Smith as our starter.

Ya and he Choked just about every damn time with all pro talent all around him...

But according to Pro Football guys like you, we should just drop the entire O again and start over with a QB who had every opportunity in the world to win the SB but he Choked every time he was in the big game!

Do u know why Montana is Considered the best QB of all time? Its not because he has 4 SB rings. Its because he was at his best in the biggest moments.

Srry but i dont want to trade one of our 2 first round picks in one of the DEEPEST TALENT drafts in the last 10 years for a QB that has been in the WCO his entire career and Chokes in the biggest moments!

So yea...

Like i said, SAY NO TO McChoke!

Do you think the Niners should consider the trade - for their #2 and #3 Pick?

If we ran a WCO and/or if the bulk of our O players/OC atleast had experience in the WCO i would definatly trade atleast a mid to late first for McNabb but in our current situation it would just set us back a few years if anything....

NOOOOooooooooooooooo!

Way past his prime and too frequently injured. We're not talkin' Favre with 250 consecutive starts, or an up and coming free agent coming from a team that couldn't afford to pay staters salary to 2 QB's.

Agreed; just say McNO to Mcnabb.

This is not a deep draft...what are you smoking??? This is a top heavy draft and after the first 3, it's a real crap shoot. Besides, look at the last 10 years of mid-round draft choices...none of those guys are real difference-makers (with 1 exception), but you think OUR 16th/17th pick will somehow be the one exception to history. Good luck with that.

Regarding McNabb "choking," he at least got his team to 5 NFC Championship games. You do realize that that's 5 more NFC Championships games than Alex Smith has appeared in. You don't get your team to 5 conference championship games without talent, heart and determination.

If all he ever did was take our team to an NFC Championship (which he has plenty of experience in doing), that's WAY more than anything Smith could ever do based on his 5 years of experience. Not only that, that sets our team up nicely going forward...a guy like McNabb can get us into the playoffs and allow us a shot, all the while, the team is gaining valuable experience and learning how to play at a playoff/championship level. We can then draft his replacement in 2011 or have him mentor Davis to eventually take over...but during this time, we're in the playoff mix and building momentum.

My point is, I'll take my chances with a guy who's at least been there and done that, rather than someone who is completely clueless and is just trying to stave off the "bust" label (Smith). And for the price of a mid-1st rounder, it's a complete and total no-brainer.
I am tired of not being a contender and constant discussions about the QB position. Atleast this would solve both problems for about 3 years....He is worth it! Sign him!!!
Draft the best OT at 13 and trade the 17th for McNabb = PLAYOFFS regardless (cause this team is pretty much built for a playoff run right now in the west regardless of who's at QB, and whether or not McNabb will catch onto the offense after leaving a WC).

For one thing, if McNabb comes that definitely seals the deal with Nate Davis being our future, and Alex 'one more chance' Smith on a train out of SF.

He's not a FA, we'd have to trade for him, which most likely means giving up a first round draft pick.

Mcnabb has always played with superior talent & still has failed to deliver a Super Bowl victory.

For that reason I say pass, philly wouldn't be shopping him if they felt confident he could win in the playoffs.

Nobody is saying he will absolutely win us a Super Bowl...that's not realistic. It's about getting this team to the next level, making the playoffs and at least having a SHOT at winning it all.

Right now, we have ZERO shot with our current QB situation. McNabb gives us a shot, and that's all teams on the rise can ask for.

He had the most explosive offense in league under his control last season & was defeated in the 1st round of the playoffs. Not to mention the eagles surrendered the NFC east title by choking down the stretch. He's not going to do any better for us.. you can bet on that.

Dude, but you're missing the point. HE MADE IT TO THE PLAYOFFS.

We haven't gotten there, and unless we do something about our QB situation, we aren't going to get there. You do understand this, don't you?

It's not about winning the Super Bowl in 1 year. It's about getting this team to the next level (playoffs), which McNabb could do and something our current QBs haven't shown they can do. It's all about upgrading the most important position on the team...if/when you have a chance to do that, you must go for it.

People who would not McNabb over Alex Smith just simply need to have there head examined.

Its too bad that stupidity isn't painful.

He just took his team to the playoffs last year!!!!! Just last year. Come on, man...you have to do better than that.

So in other words.....NO

I would do a 2 year contract w/ McNabb and then bring on Nate Davis. I think McNabb is dynamic enough to adjust to any offensive system.

yeah, but all we have with Smith is FUTURE accomplishments, that existly mostly in message boards like this one.
Good payer but we do not really need him bad enough to give up a 1st rounder. Not enough tread left on those tires.
Ugh this again? I don't even think Philly will trade him, but he's not worth a 1st rounder. He's not as mobile as he used to be, he's older and he's been injury prone, and we want to put him behind one of the worst oline's in the NFL in a system he's never played in his career? Yes that's a great idea.
