He sucks but he'd be a good #3/wildcat guy. He'll never be a starter, ever.

He is #2 on Tampa' qb chart -- worth a check out considering we we're all staking our hopes on Troy at one point.

2007 205 300 2976 68.3 9.92 69 42 1 5 197.19
I hope that makes sense. Those are his college qb stats, here are his pro stays with Tampa.

Also here are his run stats for the pros.

IMO --- Maybe with Harbaugh he could be a starting QB but is definitely not an immediate solution other then the fact that he has NFL experience I wouldn't want a qb with history with Harbaugh making our probable pick; Mallet, Gabbert, Newton look over his shoulders his whole rookie year.

To be fair, Johnson came from the University of San Diego, which is a Division I-AA school. Johnson played well there but I think he was drafted mainly because of how fast he is.
Also, he put up insane numbers in college. I think his first year starting he completed about 70% of his passes, and had about 34 passing TDs. Again, it was against lesser competition, but he was used perfectly.

Was every QB that Bill Walsh coached at Stanford an NFL ready QB?

He took a QB from a non-scholarship 1-AA school and turned him into a 5th round draft pick. That shows enough imo.

Yeah, I like Josh Johnson alot. I wouldnt bet the farm on him and base my franchise around him but I think he would have a slim chance of becoming a starting QB in this league in the right situation. His numbers in his playing time in TB arent amazing. Last year in his first action, 4 tds, 8 ints. But that was basically from one bad game vs. NE. He had a decent game against Philly. and that was with zilch at WR help last year. And in spot duty this year, hes 14/16 for 111 yds. Not a huge sample size but.... if you watch him, he doesnt look like a deer in the headlights or anything. He looks the part of a QB, can make the throws, can do alot with his feet which would be needed here. I think with him its just a matter of getting the experience and getting a chance.
Not saying hes the messiah, but you could do alot worse if we cant land our QB of the future in this draft (or simply dont like any of those QBs)
