He's certainly a better option than Carr or Troy Smith, but I imagine the Bucs will ask for more than he's worth.

I didn't even think of that. Those comparisons would get soo annoying. Maybe we should acquire Trent Edwards instead. But Johnson does really intrigue me.

Tampa seems to disagree with that opinion. Having him as not just a wildcat qb but their definitive back up for Freeman. They got it right, drafting 2 physically identical players with similar skill sets.

Harbaugh would be the voice of reason on Johnson, judging if he could continue as QB or move him to WR were his size and athleticism would be put to great use.

We're going to be all rookie next year except 1 veteran. Since the "future contracts" had to be offered before Harbaugh was hired and we didn't give one to N. Davis, maybe Harbaugh would want him back and try and sign one to him as soon as the league year starts when/if a new CBA or impasse/work rules is agreed on.

Johnson isn't a "rookie" he has been in league for a few years and actually was going to be the Buc's started until they Freeman.

Johnson left college with the then highest efficiency record, 174.4 or something. He was the offensive MVP of the Senior Bowl that year...this dude is no slouch. I would bring him in here in a second, but I would not throw all my eggs in his basket to be our QB.

I would still do everything we could do to get a vet like Kolb or Palmer, even if it means giving up a second round pick.

Josh is also from Oakland, so it is nice that he is a local kid.

I would be all for acquiring him. I don't see why Tampa wouldn't be willing to part with him since he is just a back-up.

However, his 2009 stats were pretty bad.

Well, there you go. To me, he's the one I would be seeking on all the teams. He fits as Harbaugh's QB. Hey, he's been Harbaugh's QB. Give him one to two years of solid NFL WCO coaching, he'd be ready.

He was drafted as a fifth rounder and we may be able to nab him for that. He certainly is a better fit than N. Davis, also a fifth rounder. I am not saying he's our starter. I am saying, he would be an excellent #2 right now learning off of McNabb or Hasselbeck.

Approx 70% completion rate? Wow! I like him a lot and reminds me of Cunningham and Young. Our conditioning program will get him the bulk he needs.

I certainly would love to have him in a Niner uni.
