Penn St. football sexual abuse scandal

No, you are right, it's not strange he was around campus, it is downright inappropriate, negligent and criminal. After the 1st round of allegations that led to his retirement, he should have been banned and looked into. After the 2nd round of accusations in which there were witnesses, he should have been turned in to the police, not had his keys and kids on campus privileges taken away from him. Give me a break.

I agree with what Jay Bilas said on ESPN all taking away his keys said was just don't do it on campus.

Sickening, isn't it? They knew this in 2002!!!!

There were allegations around 98' when he retired. I also just read they went as far back as 1994'. This whole thing is just disgusting.

Read NY Times story on mysterious death of District Attorney Ray Gricar, who was investigating Jerry Sandusky. Interesting to say the least.

RT @GBizzle502: NY (Daily News) article about Ray Gricar: http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/i-team/penn-da-passed-initial-sex-abuse-charges-penn-state-coach-jerry-sandusky-disappeared-05-article-1.974806

I like what Strahan said (on his twitter)

"Joe Paterno should step aside now and be happy that that's all he has to do"

It really became more about wins than anything... and that's the sad part about this all. Paterno will be pushed out, Penn State's president is most certainly going to be fired. And now for failing to act on allegations of sexual abuse, the college itself may have violated a federal law. This is going to get a hell of a lot uglier in my opinion, and yeah...I'll place much blame on Paterno because he is that school (or was, not anymore)

He should just make a statement that he apologizes to the victims of Sandusky and had he known there would be future victims, he would have done more to prevent it. But that he relied on others to report and investigate the information he was given and is only now learning that those he relied on had failed. That he preaches character and attention to detail, and that he failed to display the attention to detail that he demanded from his players when he learned that Sandusky may have been molesting children. That he was shocked and disgusted to learn the full extent of Sandusky's alleged behavior and that this story should be used as an example that reports of child abuse should be reported to the proper authorities by anyone with knowledge of the abuse. That people should not trust others to report wrongdoing, but must take it upon themselves to take initiative in stopping horrendous behavior. That he wishes he could go back and change what happened, but that is not an option and that he is a human that made a grave mistake that had serious consequences. Instead, he must show that there are consequences in life for not paying attention to details and that resigns effective immediatley without pay. That his thoughts and prayers are with the victims.

he did say in his retirement announcement that one of his life's regrets was him not doing more... or something to that nature, I kind of feel like he's only feeling that way & actually retiring because all of this came to light. He would still be coaching until he died if this stuff didn't pop up in the news

Joe Paterno will never represent Penn State in any official capacity ever again. Pretty amazing.
