Yeah, that part of the season. What exactly is your point here? That Kobe shouldn’t look for a future career as a GM? If I told you at the beginning of the season that the Lakers would be playing in the NBA Finals, you would have laughed at me. Hell yes that team overachieved.
Everyone in the media was crowning LA before the playoffs started all the way to the finals, don't give me this overachieved nonsense.
Everyone in the media? You mean the same people that predicted that the Lakers would finish 7th through 10th
in the West before the season started? Those guys? Hell yes they overachieved, and that was before the Gasol deal as well. And I had the Celtics in 5. That team was simply better than the Lakers.
And I can talk choke all I want, the Rox had both TMac and Yao at the same time once, and lost in 7 to the team that went to the finals, that's not a choke, that's a tough break.
Actually, you’ve had them healthy at the same time twice in the playoffs. The other time was when you lost in the 1st Round to the Utah Jazz, even though you had home court advantage.
They've never been favored in any series because they had nothing besides those two, and never both 100% at the same time. Until this year they haven't had near the talent LA has had, and now you're seeing that they can overcome injuries and still have the best record in the toughest division in BBall.
The “talent that LA has had”? You mean with Kwame Brown, Smush Parker, Chris Mihm, & Luke Walton STARTING at various points for the Lakers alongside Kobe? Hell, even those teams got as far as the Yao/Mcgrady Rockets have.
Again, until I see them win w/o Shaq, I'll never be convinced them or kome is as good as the media wants me to think they are.
That’s fine, but don’t revise history. The Lakers had GARBAGE talent on their squad and made the playoffs, but as soon as Kobe had a solid big man on the squad, they were Finals contenders, while the Rockets continue to lose in the 1st Round, regardless of whether or not they have both Yao & McGrady.
