Payton had shown that he chokes in big situations in the past. I'm glad we didn't get him. Not to mention we found our QB anyway.

very happy. we have hopefully a decade of Kap whereas Manning only has another 2 or 3 years. oh yeah and 20mill a year.

Even though he's still a hell of a player, I was one of those that always thought signing him didn't make sense. As I said when it came out that he worked out for us, signing him would have stunted the growth of our young QB's, required that we make several major changes on offense (Peyton IS the Bronco's o-coord), and it would have cost a ton of cap space to boot making retaining our own guys difficult it not impossible.
Not worth the risk for an aging player coming off several neck surgeries.
