I would have loved sticking it to Manning by beating him in the SB, but this is a nice runner up.

Payton puts us back into salary cap hell! I'm glad Kaep got his shot. I live in Las Vegas, and I've seen Kaep's amazing talent first hand when UNR comes to town. I was praying for Harbaugh to draft him, and he did! Harbaugh knows QB's and Kaep will only get better. I am so happy we finally have a franchise QB, and a smart coach to match. My dreams are coming true! Go Niners!

With our defense, Manning's margin for error would have been much greater than what he had with Denver.
Overall I agree but Denver's D is pretty good in it's own right and they got TWO special teams TD's and still couldn't find a way to win it.

Lol and our 45th pick was used to select Rahim Moore
The guy who gave up the 70 yard bomb vs BAL

I can't quote my exact statement back then in spring, but it was Peyton and not enough money to sign half the rest of the team...or don't sign him.
Medically, I thot that the 4 next surgeries following the injury were almost certain to make this Peyton's last yr, and I fervently hoped that he didn't sign with anyone. He can still walk, play with his kids, do commercials, heck, just be a regular guy. But the injury and the subsequent surgeries did not auger well for peyton's health...neck and throwing arm. My hope wast that he would finish his career with a wise move...that he was going to retire. But, peyton being peyton, he had to play, so as long as WE didn't sign him, it was good by me. We would have retarded the development of Kap, we wouldn't have made it past the first rd , if we got that far, and it would have been a lost yr , and worse yet, we would have lost players we needed but couldn't sign if we signed peyton.
My admiration for him grew this yr when he took a crappy O and taught and transformed it into Peyton's O. Fascinating thing to see, and the guy would obviously be a helluva HC. But signing him? Wow, that would have left us like Denver now finds itself. A yr behind, no Qb, and a surgical specimen that isn't able to do it anymore (at the championship level) . If you watch any highlights of the Denver game, watch the throwing motion and note how much energy peyton has to put into the ball to get it 20 yds. Then watch a highlight clip of Kap's. Guy throws effortlessly, it goes a mile, and he exerts hardly any pressure. One of two things are going on with peyton, but this is just a guess, due to my multiple back surgeries to fix a crushed nerve to the foot, and medical experience:
a)he has lost or is losing strength in his throwing arm( probably both) or
b) he is getting more symptomatic with each game, and is going to have to realize that this is it...end of road.
disclaimer: I never saw his films, obviously never examined him, but am making a guess at what is going on. What i see is not encouraging.
