Alex Smith fans need to get psychiatric treatment.

Why would a noodle-armed game manager who's benefited from a great running game and defense have such a delusional fanbase?

He brought us back from 1+ score deficits I believe once in the Harbaugh era which was the "legendary" Eagles game. Please stop romanticizing his play. Every single analyst has said despite Smith playing well, he is not the type of guy that will bring you back when you're down big. Why does he deserve to play in the SB? He is not more important than the team. He never will be no matter how hard some of you try. Smith is a player on a team. That is it. He had his opportunity last year and couldn't get it done.

He may have been able to come back, but there is no way we would have been able to expose Atlantas defense like Keap did last night with the read option threat. Alex isn't a threat to anyone's edge, those players would have had to been assigned a blocker instead of that blocker having the ability to engage other defenders up field paving a path for Gore. With Smith in the game, the defense can stack the box against the run. With Kaep in the game the edge plays contain and are predictable most of the game.

Conjecture at best. Sorry, I don't buy it. It's not like teams haven't had film on Alex and he didn't still do what he did. I'm not taking anything away from Colin, he's the real deal...but I have no doubts that Alex could have lead this team to the superbowl...he was a miffed punt away from doing it last season.

Just to be clear, I don't question that Colin is more talented. I question the message that the change sends (lie to keep your job if you're hurt). Do I cheer my ass off for Colin? yes. I've always said that I'd support any qb that could take Alex's job. I believe Alex is a very good QB and Colin is even better..I just think it should have happened in the off season. With all that said, I have to wonder why some fans need to diminish Alex to raise Colin up. The need to do that speaks to a person's character. I think Colin is quite capable of raising himself up...he doesn't need any help.
