So out of curiousity, I put together a spreadsheet which broke down the Yac per Rec of all the players in the nfl.

Trivia Question: How high was the highest ranked 49er and who was he?

I have it...but it doesn't translate well to this board unless I am taking a picture of it. if you want me to email it I can...

Highest ranked was #42 and it was Manningham.

add 100 to that and you'd be close for Mario.

Ranked #130 in the NFL in YAC per attempt. 98th in total Yac.

Holy s**t. Is he the highest ranked Niner or are others above him?

There are others ranked above him. Not one of them are anywhere near the top 30. I haven't found a site that gives me yac as a team as opposed to as a player, but I am pretty convinced that based on what I saw we could be the worst YAC per ATTEMPT team with a winning record.

I have VD ranked at 77 and Crabtree ranked at 93 on Yac per attempt.

Ranking for total YAC (as opposed to yac/attmpt):
20 Michael Crabtree, WR
51 Vernon Davis, TE
85 Frank Gore, RB
98 Mario Manningham, WR

20 in the NFL in total yac...93rd in the nfl in yac per attempt.

I can be a RB with 10,000 yards but the guy with 3000 yards is better because he did it in 1/4 of my touches.
Not good...not good at all. It's a combination of things too from the (designed) play calling, to defensive execution, to down and distance, situations when we DO pass, ball placement, receivers not beating their man off the LOS, in the open field, poor routes, etc. But man, this IS bad...add the drops passes and the minimal chances they get (at most 7 times) a game to produce, you've GOT to do better than this.

most of our routes are timing comeback and hook type routes which makes it hard for the wr to get yards. We need more routes in which the wr is moving (like slant routes) and can catch the ball in stride. But then again that takes timing and precision ball placement.
