Peyton Manning throwing INTs in the preseason like he's doing now will give Fangio ulcers.

- If you are an Alex hater/detractor/etc. then you choose to believe that the Niners heavily pursued Peyton... because you need to believe this as if it is some proof that Alex iz teh suxxorz and the F/O wanted to give Alex the boot.
- If you are an Alex lover/supporter/etc. then you choose to believe that the Niners gave Peyton the courtesy of an evaluation... and believe Greg Roman's recent words that "their interest was not piqued" after the evaluation. That no contract was offered, and that the Niners allowed their level of disinterest to be hidden to help boost the offers from Tennessee and Denver.
It's just that simple. This thread is crap... the people in it transparent and redundant.

I also have been wondering if Harbs liked what he saw when he "evaluated" Manning? I mean why else wouldn't we have offered a contract? and SO far in the Pre-season, Manning has 3 picks and 0 td's, altho not spectacular Smith has 0 picks and a td pass. Not saying I'd rather have Smith than Manning, I'm saying maybe Harbs wasn't as impressed with Manning as he thought he would be when he flew down to watch!

if the 49ers gave no contract/numbers/ballpark figures to manning, then why were we in play until the final minutes of mannings decision? simple, because numbers were indeed discussed

Alex is the 2nd highest paid 49er on the roster.. so the money never lies? That's what you want to stick with?

All things considered (including Alex's lack of greed), I think the money he is getting is fair right now. It helps out the team, and Alex has always been the good lil soldier. If we are to go off of your logic, then the money says Alex is the 2nd best player on the team... and not even I think that.

I know your old so Im say it so you hear me.
IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT HIS RANK ON THE TEAM IS AS FAR AS MONEY. YOU HAVE TO JUDGE HIM BY OTHER QB'S SALARIES AROUND THE NFL.
