Agree. Its been a long night, and i let it get to me, i admit it. Good thing is we seem to hopefully have alot more depth at the position and they all seem to be hungry. Really Hungry. Its an exciting time to be a niner fan. If Crabtree can earn his position on the depth chart than i am happy for him, and will cheer every time he makes a catch just like i always have. Im a niners fan first and foremost and a critic second. It just sometimes gets to me when people act like you cant be a fan and still be critical, and i shouldn't let it bother me. This season cant get here soon enough.

No worries, boss. It happens to the best of us.

I'll be right there with you, rooting for him. Given his track record, though, skepticism seems to be the most reasonable approach when discussing Crabtree, especially when one takes into consideration--as I think you must--his draft position.

See you opening day!

He'll end up with the cowboys when its all said and done, then him and dez bryant can try to out-underachieve eachother

Lol omg you are so ridiculous. Crabtree has 2,300 yards in his first 3 seasons, one of which was only 11 games due to a holdout. Monk had 2100 in his first 3 seasons. You have no argument. You didn't even know who Clark and Sanders were before I told you so I dont even know why I am arguing with you about them.

That Redskin trio of WRs were fun to watch, gotta admit.
Why all the Crabby hate? I want him to do well! I want every player on this team to do well. Every time Smith throws the ball to him, I hope he catches it. And scores a touchdown. Because that's what's good for the team.

If the coaching staff decides he's third or fourth behind Moss or Manningham or Jenkins or Williams or some combination thereof fine, because I trust this staff. But I don't think he's going to spend the year on the pine because the kid is not as bad as any of you are making him out to be.

I think one of the things that happened between 2003-2010 was that the 49er fan base lost sight of the fact that players ought to progress. Our coaching staffs were so incompetent that unless players came to us completely ready to succeed--Frank Gore, Patrick Willis--we assumed that a player was stuck where he started. Kentwan Balmer is an example. And then Aldon comes in last year and is such a force it only reinforces that notion. But players develop--they get better! Give him a chance come game time, and ignore the overblown junk the media plays up during TC.

Think it's more like disappointment and concern. Fans just want him out there practicing with the team, is all it is.. for the most part. Another season of no TC and preseason would be frustrating, but I do see people jumping the gun and writing him off too soon. He could be back out there practicing today for all we know.

As for Crabtree "lighting the world on fire", yes that is what I hope for and what every 49ers fan should hope for in 2012. Have fun rooting against him though.
maybe the rules around here have changed, I thought you did not attack posters and call them names just because they dare disagree with you. by the way before you start flaming people maybe you better look in the mirror. You pretty much get smarky and thin skinned with about every poster you engage with

agree. i was pleased with him in the regular season, pissed at him when he dropped three in the chest vs the saints, I really thought the team may move him on draft day. They did not so i was just hoping he would be healthy and he seemed to be off to a good start with the addition of moss and a good work ethic. now comes this, yes its just a sprained ankle, yes they happen all the time, yes gore gets hurt alot but after 4 years of ALWAYS something with him and missing camp, it is just very very very disapointing

OK that I can understand. I still think it's being blown out of proportion by bored newswriters though. Pro Football Talk ran a story basically saying "oh look he's hurt again, looks like he'll miss all of preseason" with no source beyond him missing one day of practice. People are getting all riled up over this when we don't know anything about the injury.

I would add suspicious to disappointing. I think he'll milk the injury as long as possible because we all know this guy does not like to participate in camp.

you are right. today is supposed to be his day to speak to the media. if he misses that i am not sure how to read that. you would think if its just a sprained ankle he still would be at camp with the team? if not, ae they trying to hide or shelter him? You are right medic,, you can really get far into the grassy knoll theorys!!

well if he does, i think the coaches will act. what they will do, i do not know,, but, unless crabs is the best actor in the world,, i just can not imagine them letting him milk it. people like you can not be blamed for saying its suspicious. four years, always something with him?? come on crabtree
Anyone still want Crabtree over DHB...

I do. But these 2 guys certainly underachieved so far for top 10 picks. This dude has foot injury since his pre-combine days. Then conveniently has one every year during camp but some how got himself better when the season starts. One of the unluckiest SOB when it comes to his foot. All happened right round camp time... Suspicious is not the word for this anymore.

More like a copout of camp to me.

Idaho,

Shake it off, man. You let your guard down and got sucker punched by a sophist, you're not the first. No big deal.

That doesn't mean you're wrong, though. Without resorting to sophistry, it's hard to claim Crabtree is anything other than a goldbricker. We've seen this before and we're seeing it again. He's going to ride this excuse for however long it will take him and his fans will ride the bomb, too.

The key point is this: Crabtree has skills, but no killer instinct. He's great for your Madden team or your Sabremetrics, but absolute crap for your NFL team when it really matters. The fact that Crabtree is, at best, in the periphery of the discussion when we discuss our dagger-in-the-heart weapons says all we need to say about Crabtree.

Until he proves otherwise--which seems increasingly unlikely--he's a four-years-into-the-league question mark. At the wide-out position, that's pitiful. Only RBs have an easier job of making a personal impact upon a team, if we wish to talk Sabermetrics. Meanwhile, you have guys like Iupati, Davis, Bowman and A. Smith that are changing the face of this team. In Crabtree's corner, you have a pile of excuses and stats...and a growing pile of dust. He's fast becoming yesterday's news, although his supporters don't seem to see it that way.
That just about says it all about Crabs thus far. This latest injury may not be anything. I actually hope it is't because that means he's on the field. But every year it's something with this guy. Going into his 4th season and he's still a ?. And this latest injury, even if it's minor, does not help him. He may be talented but if he's not available he might as well be a scrub because the effect is the same. Crabs needs to be very careful because at some point the excuses simply won't be enough and the bust factor will begin to take hold in the minds of the fans (it already has with this fan) and the coaching staff. This is not the season for Crabs to be hurt. If he does anything less than sh_t Tiffany cufflinks this season he won't be back next season.
. If its that same foot he had surgery on, its an issue. No need to rag on him because of an injury.
