QB Josh Johnson

Since I believe Kaepernick probably still isn't ready to take the reigns, this is a pretty solid signing in my opinion. The scariest thing about last season was that we had two rookies backing up Smith, so to have a returning Kaep and Josh Johnson this season (assuming Tolzien goes to PS) makes this team even better. Should add to the growing chip on Alex's shoulder, too, which is good because he seems to play his best when he's angry lol

Are we watching the same vid? He looked very solid. That pass he made at 2:43 was money. I could see him hitting Moss or Davis with those all day.

I saw a very athletic QB that doesn't read the defense very well or go through progressions.
Great we now have 2 QBs that are terrible when pressure comes and one unknown

I saw a lot of raw potential that Harbaugh could coach up. The two blitzs that he threw a pick on were completly unblocked and almost like a Madden Nano-Blitz. Maybe he should of saw that, but the Eagles are known for their exotic blitzs. Anyway, I guess I agree with you, but I also so a lot of potential. He throws the ball with out labor or effort and he hit a lot of tight windows.

Yah I agree with you about the raw talent he does seem to have it. Hopefully JH can coach him up.

3 INT's and a fumble, stares down guys, and has happy feet = very solid?

Alex should be considered All World then

I for one am not excited about JJ signing with us. I also wouldn't be shocked if he got cut in training camp, the financial commitment they made to him is not significant.

and this was going to be plan B if Alex left.....lol

Jim is a great coach but tihs thought that he can take anybody and make them effective is retarded. If that was the case we wouldnt of signed JJ, Jim's super hero QB powers would make Kap and Tolz magical.

I think JJ will end up the #2 QB. He has experience over CK and is already familiar with Harbaugh's offense. But, we'll see...nice problem for Harbaugh to have, eh.

i'm excited because of his familiarity with Harbaugh and the fact that his presence could push everyone at the position. he might not be very good at the NFL level, but he is legitimate competition for Kaep and Tolzien, and if they elevate their play to beat out JJ, then they will become better competition for Smith, who must elevate his play, etc. and, who knows, JJ might surprise people and push Smith too.

But yeah, I don't think he's anything more than competition, backup material, and I agree that I won't be surprised if he fails to make the final roster.

Right. A young, athletic QB learning to play the position.

I think there are alot of people who don't undertstand how Harbaughs offense makes it EASIER to play the position. It's "QB friendly". When Josh moves from that into something else...he struggled.

I happen to think that the same thing is going to happen to Luck.

I refuse to talk about Alex in this thread.......

Anyway, can a QB guru help me out with this; when I was watch the TD pass to the endzone about 20 yards out (2:35-2:50) it looks like he's standing in a non-throwing position, but still managed to zipp it in with very little body moment. Am I looking at that right? It seemed pretty impressive to me.

But he's already done it with this guy at the college level..... The kid shattered records at SD state, didn't he?
