Davis is one of our most valuable pieces...and his value would be high in a trade.

Our draft position is going to suck...we'll need to find a way to trade up. Like any league...you've got to give to get.

What our offense needs is consistent playmakers....not once in a blue moon home run hitters. We need a consistent offense that can convert on 3rd down and buy our defense a breather every now and then. We need an offense that doesn't crap the bed in the red zone. We need receivers who can make difficult catches.

Having Davis didn't help us at all in this regard today.

What type of offense would you rather have....the type that can keep the chains moving or the type that hits a big play in 1 out of 10 drives. Or can only score if you give it a short field?
While I understand the concept that you have to give to get sometimes, I fail to see the logic in trading a team leader who just had a tremendous postseason. Davis was, on several occasions, our only real offensive threat. He is a matchup nightmare for other teams. I'm curious as to what you think his trade value is? What could we get for Davis that would make it worth giving him up?

To answer your question about what type of offense I would rather have, a chain mover or a big play threat, the answer is simple: both. I want my offense to be able to consistently move the ball, and be able to take shots where they are available. I see no need to lose the ability to do one in order to do the other.

Davis is a weapon, and a good one. Add other weapons to the offense, and he becomes more of a weapon.

Just my opinion.

We are a young, and up and coming team, with an amazing coach! I am excited for this team, and its future! No ONE has it better than us! 6-10 to 7 min from a Superbowl birth! We surpassed what anyone said we could do! I am looking forward to what this team could do. We are on the brink of a Dynasty that is a force to be wreck-end with! Hate me now, Love me later. That is the Niner way!
You won't just find other weapons growing on trees.....you'll need to trade something to better your chances.

We need to build an offense which can move the chains consistently. I know Alex can be trained up to be a consistent passer....but he needs solid targets to throw to.

Vernon, while crazy talented, is only one guy....trading him might allow us the chances to fill several areas of need.

No fluke, although I hope age doesn't hit our veterans guys too much (Justin Smith, Donte Whitner, Carlos Rogers, Frank Gore, Jonathan Goodwin) to be specific.

The rest of the team is young, and fiesty, and ready to roll, I'm not worried about them, they'll just take it up a whole other notch.

I hope we can find a way to re-sign our FA, that includes veteran guys like Ahmad Brooks. I hope we can pickup another RB that can help Gore & Hunter, as much as I love them, I want to find another bruiser.

I want to keep our special teams intact, and hope to keep Ginn, if not him I'd love to go out and get Desean Jackson, he's a great PR/KR, and is a legitimate deep threat. WR. I hope he doesn't cost too much, after that blunder of a season.
Fluke....We'll never win s**t with Smith as our QB and the NFC is a lot harder than the AFC. We're screwed boys and girls but at least it was fun while it lasted.

You don't just trade away a player like VD. He is way to valuable to the team on the field and in the locker room.

I feel like I am in the twilight zone, tell me again why trading the only receiver who actually showed up in the playoffs is going to make the offense better.

Because we cannot win it all with this offense. People will blame Williams because his mistakes are easy to single out....but the game today was lost (as with most of our losses this season) by the inability of the offense to move the ball consistently.

We don't necessarily need a juggernaut offense either....but we need something a lot more consistent than what we have.

There is FA and the draft coming up. Trading Vernon Davis is plain stupid.
