It is only going to set the 49ers back that much further with Smith not coming in till the 4th. No way is Kaepernick going to be the starter unless Smith gets hurt. If Kaepernick does start this year, god help us.

Yah like we are so much better with Smith starting.

You have to believe though that Smith is going to be more effective than Kaepernick would be just from the experience level.

No we don't. Troy Smith was better than Alex Smith with almost no experience and even less practice time. Alex Smith is a looser. He might be a nice guy but he f**kin sucks at football.

troy smith was better? you gotta be f**kin kidding me... stick to the sofa buddy

whats Alexs' career record?

24-4....

In the preseason.

Only if he is conservative. But if he's a gunslinger and throws picks, then that can be reigned in.

Can't really say the same for the other way around.

You can temporarily turn a crazy mofo into a sensible player but you can't turn a b***h player into Macho Man.

Exactly. Alex Smith is way too conservative IMO, but he still makes too many costly mistakes. If you're gonna f**k up, f**k up while trying to play aggressive.

Well maybe we need a little bit of gunslinger around here, and not the troy smith type.

Well maybe we need a little bit of gunslinger who knows more than 4 plays around here, and not the troy smith type.

edited it for you.[/i]

Martz doesn't reign anyone in. Gunslingers are his Krypton.
Unless the 49ers FO addresses the center position soon, anyone who calls for Kaepernick to start must be very, very cruel.

I'm sure Alex Smith has started to wonder now if it was a huge mistake for him to agree to come back.

The 49ers want rookie Jeremiah Masoli to play running back, but with passers at a premium early in camp, the Oregon and Ole Miss product was at his familiar spot under center today. The common denominator among the rookie QBs is that each has a cannon for an arm. Alex Smith, in fact, probably comes in fourth in that competition

His time is getting nearer and nearer. I have a good feeling he's gonna look good in a real-game situation.
