He needs to develop a short memory. Each time he got beat for the Gamecocks he lost his composure and was near useless for a few plays till they sat him. He also needs to develop his hands more. Buddy would drop alot of passes that would have been picks. Hes got good speed and can lay people out when he connects. If he doesnt develop we can always move him to FS where he had alot of success at USC.

I think Culliver needs all the practice he can get in the preseason and try to learn how to study from some of the veterans in the locker room

Thats gonna be key for him. USC had a great defense each year he was there. He was a phenom imo at FS with his hits n coverage. His speed made them try him at CB. In a year or 2 he could be great. Or he could turn into a whiney douche. It all depends on the structure and coaching they give him in SF.

-The 49ers are down to their fourth cornerback. Shawntae Spencer (hamstring) Tarell Brown (unknown) are out with injury. Tramaine Brock started practice but didn't finish it and, at one point, was running on the sidelines by himself. That leaves rookie Chris Culliver as the possible starter Friday in New Orleans. Not that Culliver is not deserving. Harbaugh said all arrows are pointing up with him and he made an leaping interception on a fade route during 7-on-7 drills.

Rogers, Spencer, Brown, Culliver, Brock, Adams. Last year's Philip Adams I'd have been fine with as the nickel guy. This year, coming off the injury I'm concerned. Apparently he's not back to the form he was last year, and understandably so.
We need Spence to get -- and stay -- healthy.
whatever is wrong with spencer, i bet he would start if itwas during the season.Originally posted by OnTheClock:Depth is looking a little worrisome at CB.
