Steve Young on KNBR

Just finished listening to it, and man, this is why Steve Young will always be my favorite 49er. Aside from his play, he embraces the legacy, he embraces what Walsh did, he wants the 49ers to be great, and he knows what it takes to win. Of course the Yorks couldn't care less, and will continue flailing around with their lack of identity and purpose again...

Steve Young! I heard everything and agree 100% with him. We NEED to get back to WHO WE ARE. We are not the 70s Steelers, '85 Bears, nor the 2000 Ravens. We are the San Francisco 49ers! We need to pay homage to the Bill Walsh legacy by using it and improving upon it. It's what the Saints, Packers, Eagles, and Patriots have been doing all along. Why not us?

Jed York should not be in sole charge of finding a GM. What he should do is form an exploratory committee made of 49ers legends (players/coaches/execs) to find the right GM for the 49ers. Once they find that GM, the process of rebuilding this great organization can begin.

In one of my earlier posts a month ago right when i joined i said something real similar to this, that certain teams are lucky that just seem to have schemes, philosophies really that transcend time and work for a team. I mentioned the Steelers as really the prime example and i think its a big deal. Identity, most everyone agrees and says this over and over on here, i just cant get over on how a guy like Nolan or Sing comes in and doesn't draw off of a great history. To try and change that and utterly fail, it's just more than stupid. It's never a surprise to me so many of us on here wont be happy until sustained success has been restored, because we have a great reference to draw from. i can't buy tickets or merch and support this until we get good stable people in place. I think thats why Steve has stayed away from 49er land, its painful to see people demolishing something that was great. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"

I dont know what happened the last 8 years, seems like one big muddled, drunken mess of football years to me. At least the Giants won the World Series.

York's dont listen to niner legends instead they listen to former Giant legends.

York's are idiots they have so much resources they can use but instead they ignore them and try to do things on their own.

Im passionate about my 49ers also but when you see the same negative crap from certain posters (Faker) (San Diego) in multiple threads, there posts are like a cancer and gets on my nerves. That's all it is. No one is saying we need he WCO Offense back, the only people that think that are simpletons. He's simply saying that there is an aggressive, pass-first, QB-centric philosophy there that we have simply ignored for 8 years.

Well that's exactly what we need a heavy pass first philosophy. A coach who goes for the throat. Where we are winning games 56-10. when were stomping a team 28-0 at halftime we come out the second half and shoot up the score 4 more touchdowns. That's what the patriots colts and eagles do. I hate the fact that we have no killer instinct!!!
