This game seemed just like the first game against Seattle. Man, if we could have scored TDs instead of FGs!!! We had them in the beginning. We just couldn't keep the foot on the throat and reverted back to failure as the game wore on.
Again, too much for this team's fragile psyche, IMO. That first QTR showed we just had enough until the mistakes came flying in with penalties, lack of concentration on catching, throwing and tackling, just deteriorated as the second QTR went on.
That's why this game was so frustrating because we were in it in the beginning and then floundered like the rest.
HOWEVER, let me remind you all that this was an EXPECTED loss so no WTF here. We knew our secondary was going to get torched. We knew Rodgers could kill us if he had time. We knew that our OL had to be on in order to succeed. We knew we could have dumb penalties like defensive offside!! WTF!!! Then add the horrid tackling by our secondary and you have defensive failure.
On the offensive side of the ball, WTF are you doing MJ? When the runs are working, keep going with them. Just those two sweeps for Dixon said volumes, it caters to his running style, extend the D, find the hole, and break it. Instead, we kept running between the tackles.
Anyway, I expected a loss. I expected us to come out the way we did. I had hope that maybe we could continue momentum and at 13-14, it sure looked like it.
Then, reality hit me in the face again and said you were right. They will lose.
Damn it, Jim!!!!
Even with all this, I know brighter day are ahead because Singletary WILL be fired at the end of the season, with or without a playoff run.
It's inevitable now.
Now time to gear up for Seattle.

Although I guessed a 90% chance of Niner loss, I'm actually surprised the game was close, 13-14 at halftime...before things fell apart. One more near guaranteed loss in SD, the others are winnable. If not, we'll be trading up for Luck or drafting Mallet/Locker next season. QB in the 1st round is a must, new HC will know that. Hopefully, Baalke will agree.

Yesterday was but the latest edition of how poorly equipped the coaching staff is when it comes to offense:
The failure to make any adjustments at any point in the game.
The failure to even try to score at the end of the first half - when Mooch did the same thing he was fired. I know Singletary will be fired at the end of the season but this is yet another example of why that will happen.
The failure to put in the QB with the best chance to win the game (Alex). Singletary has gone all in on Troy and the kid is not even close to being ready to start in this league. He should sit on the bench until OTAs and training camp so he could learn how to play.
There were other failures as well but the biggest FAIL on this team is the coaching staff. Wading through four more games of this and then waiting to see who the next HC will be could possibly be the longest time frame in the history of the franchise for us fans.

This is where firing Mike Sing now or in the previous 3 games would have mattered. The 49er headquarters could have started doing all the research and staff work to find a new HC or make confidential but real contact with someone like Jim Harbaugh.
Can't do that if the incumbent one is still has an office in the building. (And going behind his back would simply be a boorish, amateur move.)

Can they talk to another coach who is still under contract and is still playing games?

I think for an NFL coach, I don't think so no - unless the team gives tacit permission. I don't think it applies to college coaches though, I could be wrong.
But the key, is still conveying interest to that coach - and doing homework on him and other candidates. As a front office staff, you can't do that with your current coach still in the building unless you make it clear that he's a lame duck.

1. We have no secondary
2. We do not have the ability to make changes to our game plan
3. Down by 1 point with 2 timeouts and we run the ball.. call a timeout.. then run the frieking ball!!!
4. Anthony davis showed up today, i think people are too harsh on him he will be good imo
5. Our running plays up the middle with westbrook then pitches to anthony dixon???
6. Troy smith is a #2 qb in this league.
7. why did we have our safeties playing deep when they were trying to run out the clock??
8. Singletary is officially done and he knows it... no way in hell he comes back idc wat he does the rest of the season.
9. our defense looked like a pop warner team jumping offsides then stop playing... the first thing i was taught in football was watch the damn ball!!
Im so fed up with this team this year, were not only playing bad, but were making self inflicted mistakes all year, i have never seen this group play so badly and it all starts with singletary and the coaching staff. Clean house after this season or i will not be watching the next. Just like Derek Anderson, "im done"
I actually like that. He's not really a straight line big back. He runs more like a smaller guy. They played to his strength, instead of trying to make him into something he is not. I wish they would have done that with other players...

We have been outright embarrassing in the 3rd quarter this season. Basically first half game plan is don't be aggressive and be very predictable. and then half time adjustment is...basically
Defensively the goal is to set the league record in jumping offsides.

“Unlike last week, where (Atlanta’s) Michael Turner and those guys were bouncing it outside, these guys were determined to hit it downhill in the A and B gaps."--BJ Raji about our game plan VS Atlanta's.
No Chit bounce it to the outside!!!!!!! AAAAuuuuuuuuuuggggghhhhhh!!!! Those sweeps were working when we ran them and very successfully I might add. Why in the world did they not continue it?!
That's Dixon's bread and butter right there.
Well, four more weeks until....

I was just about to quote the same thing. And you know what is even more damning of the coaching? Apparently they can't tell the difference between Arizona and Green Bay:
"Raji said that Green Bay players watched the 49ers’ successful inside running against Arizona on Monday Night Football and knew they’d be gearing up for more of the same at Lambeau Field."
I told you Sing has been watching THE WRONG FILM! LOL. Instead of watching film on what works against your opponent, Sing watches film on own games ONLY and plans based on what/when we're successful.
I could see it in the game. Those outside runs by Dixon were exactly what we needed on that third and one for a first and that second goal where we throw instead....I wanted to shoot someone!!!!
If I can see it and you can see it, why can't they? Uh, sorry...that's why they're gone in four weeks, huh?
You know GM, I am really excited about the upcoming future. The Singletary Brand will be history and we will be moving back to our roots in good coaching especially on offense with the probability of the WCO coming back to its mecca.
Finally our OLBs get three sacks, 2-Brooks, 1-Laboy, not named Haralson or Lawson...go figure.
You know, GM, I am resolved at the fact that we WILL be having a new HC. I am pretty sure that also includes a GM, like yourself.

We go to Sing's backup plan, you know, his secret stash of all that film that he never watches...
