3-6but Alex Smith would be our starter due to Troy being the one who got injured in Carolina.

I still said 5-4, Troy Smith played real good in the last 2 games and we barely won. I think Dingletary could take the Steelers and lose to the Bills, he is that bad.

4-5. Some of those games we got close in were only because Smith was able to get us there. I'm not sure we'd have had much more success with Troy, but I can surely see us winning at least one more because of a little more escapability being factored in.
Troy is clearly the starter until he does something to show he can't. When you've got a hot hand like this, and you're team is winning, you can't go back to what you had. I'm very happy for Troy. He's a winner.

The harder part of the schedule was the beginning of the year. We would have still lost lots of those. Now all the softballs are lined up. We are getting somewhat of a false impression and false hope. But he does some things well. And I like what I see in some ways. But I wouldn't get carried away and think he's leading us to a Super Bowl.
Please. We almost won 4 more games under Alex Smith. Anyone who doesn't see Troy Smith is far superior to Alex is blind. Troy doesn't make the mistakes Alex does, and without those mistakes, we win at least 3 out of those 4 that we ALMOST won.
6-3.
The tough part of the schedule was Alex. The softball part of the schedule is Troy.
We lose:
Chiefs
Saints
Falcons
Eagles
We are not as good as them.
Obviously, no one will know, however, you have to admit that T. Smith hasn't turned the ball over in the last two games, and less turnovers alone would have given us a better chance to win at least one of the above. I believe we would have won at least one of the above and the Carolina game. Smart teams switch QB's around to see what they have. See Philly, Carolina, Cards, Titans, etc.
We should have at least did a QB change after the 3rd loss or even the 4th loss. But we don't even after the 5th loss. Alex was just thowing to many picks and fumbling the ball away.

Just the mobility factor? What about leading the league in picks? Fumbling the ball away?

I think we beat the Eagles & Falcons. Alex had some bad turnovers in both games. 5-4.

We almost beat the Saints, Falcons and Eagles WITH ALEX. Troy >>>> Alex and it's not close. Better QB play wins us all 3 of those games. MAYBE we still lose to the Saints or Eagles, but not both. We would have stomped Carolina.
We still lose to the Chiefs and Seahawks because those games were just disastrous.
I think the Saints would find a way to beat us. Falcons would beat us for sure. I still think the Eagles would too.
How would the Falcons beat us "for sure?" ALEX SMITH ALMOST BEAT THEM. Troy >>>> Alex. Take away Alex's mistakes and we win that game (never would have been in position for Nate Clements to take the blame on that INT).
Remove the BS fumble in the Philly game and then the patented drive-killing INT at the end (on a throw that should have never been attempted with the heat in his face) and we probably beat Philly too.
Look at the Eagles on Monday night. They are explosive. They will score what they have to in order to win. The Falcons are a much better team and they would find a way to win. They are more explosive than us too. If we play either of those teams 10 times they win 9 respectively.
You sound a little to confident. Any given Sunday. The Redskins beat Philly with Vick and now Philly put a beatdown on Washington. Dallas Killed the Giants. I don't agree with you at all. With T. Smith, we have less turnovers, he has showed that he doesn't just toss it to the other team or fumble it to them and T. Smith had the Rams D in his face the whole game.
We win more with T. Smith, he has showed it in 2 games. Give up on Alex already dude.

All the teams would have saved themselves the embarrassment, expense and pain...they would have conceded the game's and the trophy when the schedule was announced.
First undefeated championship team to never play a game in the season.

I am trying to hold back.....but I give up. This is the dumbest board ever. 58% believe our record with Troy Smith would be 6-3 or better.
Do any of these 58% of people watch the NFL, or look at league standings. Right now, there is a grand total of ONE team with a 7-2 record in the NFC, and these teams at 6-3: The Saints, Eagles, Bucs, Packers, Bears, and Giants. All of these teams have greatly outplayed us this season.
Did any of these 6-3 people include in their rationale the offensive genius of Jimmy Raye, and the mastermind of coaching, Michael Singletary. Do they honestly believe that the simple insertion of Troy Smith would have magically made Jimmy Raye the next Steve Mariucci and Singletary the next Bill Walsh.
Somebody tell me what planet I am living on, because something strange is afoot in this kingdom.
Get off the crack pipe, people, and join the world of reason and intellect.
P.S. Little reality check. Even with the outstanding performance of Troy Smith on Sunday, the team scored only 20 points in regulation, and had to go to overtime, AT HOME, to beat a team that is 0-5 on the road this season.
To state the Niners would be 6-3 or better is to state that Mike Singletary is a good coach, and this is a good team, and that the ONLY reason why this team has not performed well this season is Alex Smith. This thinking is not only absurd, but an insult to anyone who has had their eyes open to the disaster of Singletary in 2010. And for that, I pull down my pants to embarrass you. Rally in the second half, people.

I actually agree with him for the most part. The schedule was way harder at the beginning and we had Jimmy as the OC. s**t still would've turned out the same.

I know, I'm just tired of the fact that he's a condescending asshat.
