The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their Week 1 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday (Friday in Melbourne) at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne, Australia.
The 49ers did not hold a full practice on Wednesday (Thursday in Melbourne). The team last practiced on Tuesday (Wednesday in Melbourne) and will hold a walk-through on Wednesday.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan revealed this week that second-year defensive tackle Alfred Collins suffered a torn patellar tendon during practice, ending his season. He joins sidelined defensive end Sam Okuayinonu, who was placed on injured reserve after suffering a broken foot during a previous practice—though there is hope Okuayinonu can return later in the year.
Defensive tackle James Thompson Jr., who did not practice earlier in the week, was a limited participant in the most recent on-field session.
For the Rams, pass rusher Myles Garrett returned to practice as a full participant after dealing with a knee issue. Defensive tackle Aaron Donald has already been ruled out for Week 1 and did not travel with the team.
