Please dont have a late season surge

So many of you think this team would know what to do with a high draft pick. With the "men" in charge of this team. I'm not so sure.

Look at the bolded portion of your post and then tell me why they should "take one for the team and tank." They've been tanking all year, just not on purpose. They should just keep trying to win and we'll end up with a top 5 pick.

this is gross. not even going to check the rest of this thread. this comment is sad. no niner fan should ever hope for loss. trade up if needed.

I hate how we always get to the point where we are predicted to be a playoff contender and then we come out and flop right back into rebuilding mode.

I think we need CB's and a pass rusher more than anything. I don't think I would pass up on a top corner for Locker but if Luck was there I would take him without a second thought.

QB is the single most important position in football. Obviously we need more than a QB, but when exactly do you suggest we go ahead and get one? The type of players that Luck and Locker are don't come along every year.

I agree, but I do get where the OP is coming from. Our brass doesn't have the balls to make those trades and we desperately need a good QB. Tanking games now might be in our best interest for future sustained success. Like I said though, we don't need to tank. Just let them play and we'll put ourselves in position for a top QB in April.

why do we have to draft a QB in the first round?? Wait and see who is out ther evia free agency i.e: vick, etc and draft one of the stud CB's from LSU or Nebraska, both of those cats will be shutdown cb's. we don't have one. i say we draft the best available at our main need (which we will know more of after free agency)

With the exception of Drew Brees, Franchise QB's don't come through free agency. You have to draft one or trade for one.

we don't have to bomb the season for one of the guys...though our record sucks, our team is good in pretty much all areas other than quarterback. we can just trade up..I won't mind giving up a lot of picks to get a quarterback

Yes, you are not guaranteed to win if you have a top QB. But if you do not have a top QB, you are probably gonna lose. The games you win will be in spite of your poor QB.

The Browns have a stud pro bowl LT and a great line. How are they doing?

The Raiders have one of the top 2 corners in the NFL. How are they doing?

The Cowboys have one of the very best pass rushers in the NFl. How are they doing?
