Unlike in previous seasons, this is not the case. The offense IS staying on the field. They just make a big mistake before they can score. The defense is getting plenty of rest time. They just need to play better when the game is on the line.

Totally agree. Despite the mistakes our offense makes, they have been staying on the field longer than previous years. The offense can move the ball, they can get first downs, they can throw it down the field in moments....its just that one mistake that always happens that kills the drive. But at the end of the day, the defense has been getting rest and have no excuse to being able to stop the other offense.

Question is they were able to stop the offense (NO and ATL) or at least limit them the whole game but on the last drive, they can't do it? If you ask me the defensive calls get more preventative to prevent the big play but in my opinion I'd send the pressure and if they get the big play, then lucky them. But you can't sit back especially with Brees and Ryan at QB, you'll get picked apart. Prevent defense is great from getting a TD but not to get into FG range.

If the offense scored more than 7 points it wouldn't have mattered how many yards they gave up on the last drive. We wouldn't needed a "simple" defensive stop.

Dude any good defense can make 7 points stand up four quarters! Man we suck! Alex and the offense shouldn't have to go out every week and score points! Alex should not have to put together long drives that wear out the other teams defense, no way it is unfair, this defense has to do more! This defense needs to start putting points on the board too! Ask Nate why he felt the need to score rather than just step out of bounds! LOL

The 49ers have won the Time Of Possession battle in two of their four games and are right near the middle of the pack in TOP on the season at 29:14 per game. Considering they are mid-pack in intercepted passes and dead last in forced fumbles that tells us that the offense has stayed on the field plenty long enough to win games.

Actually, Clement's Int WAS that one stop the D needed to seal the game...

No QB (not even Manning) can be so dominant in this league that he can overcome an average OL, average receivers, average OC, average defense, and stupid mistakes.

I don't put it all on Alex, but to think he is not a problem is delusional. Yes the D could be better we are weak up front, so are a lot of teams, we are soft on the back side so are a lot of teams.
You couple a slightly above average D with an average O you will play .500 ball, you put an an awful QB at the helm of that offense and you are 0-4!

It is my honest opinion, based on years of football experience that Alex makes this offense worse not better. We have above average talent across the board on offense in all areas except one.

We are weak as a team because we have an awful head coach and an awful QB.

YES our defense is average, we have put all our big draft picks in the last several seasons (other than Willis) on the offensive side of the ball! We need to show the D some love this offseason.

D-line grade C
LB's grade B+
Corners grade C
Safeties Grade B
Coaching a solid B

Not all that impressive really, but it should be enough to keep us in games, and win a few if we had ANY help from the offense! & points! really not enough to beat the Falcons!

The Defensive coordinator is the weakness.

We were blitzing hard to start the game, the falcons adjusted, and we never readjusted.. and they went on a 16-0 scoring run.

Any defense? Dude, are you high? You do realize that when a Defense has to play the entire 2nd half because the offense goes 1, 2, 3 punt on every possession, that they will get tired? Some of you really have no clue what is going on out on the football field. You clearly have never played this sport or any sport in your entire life.

That's because we don't have a guy who can throw anything other than a drag route, seam route to the TE, and a screen pass. We are limited. Believe me, no one is limiting this offense on purpose. Singletary, Mike Johnson both want to dominate.
