what a joke. they were all legitimate questions the public wants answers to.

"WE WILL STOP DREW BREES."

confident much?

the dude could't help but laugh @ sings reaction ! he got under his skin ! LOL

I should be proud of this fierce confidence instilled by our coach but dude what credibility does he have at this point?! We're playing the SUPERBOWL champions with arguably one of the most potent pass-offenses ever! Wats up with coach?!

Sing was PISSED. Did you see his EYES?? Just like his playing days. He was ready to lay a hit on the reporter. haha That news anchor was a cool cat. Props to him for the way he handled it.
Wow, I have a lot of respect for Singletary, but after watching this interview and how he handled it. I would have to admit that he's lost a lot of credibility. I respect that he doesn't want to talk about the Yahoo thing, but he doesn't have to be a complete @sshole...

Then he says "if you want to talk about the Saints let's talk about the Saints." ...and Dennis O'donnel complys with questions abou the Saints and then Singletary replies with shallow statements "WE WILL stop the Saints?!"

What happened to his "Don't tell me show me" motto?!...what a complete hypocrite.

wow, this sucks.

Boy did he set himself up with a huge plate of crow to eat if the Niners lose this game...

I can careless how he acts to the media. Its the media.

If you want to bash Sing bash him on the losing, playcalling, clock management, etc... stop being whiney little girly boys and stop complain about every little thing.

He's the public face of the Niners....he embarrasses us all (organization, fans, himself) when he acts like a buffoon.

As pointed out earlier, if he really wanted to make it go away, he could have just played it cool and dismissed it.

Instead, he made it into a huge issue that will now not go away.

He's just proving on so many levels that he is not capable of handling the pressures of this job.

The correct way for Sing to have responded would have been to say this:

"Look, the article says a group of players came to me over the summer with complaints about Jimmy Raye. I know from personal experience that this is not true. So why should I believe anything else in this article? It's based on "'unnamed' sources.

"And I trust that my players are grown men with whom I have enough of a bond that they would feel comfortable bringing issues like this to me if they had them. And if they do, I will respond. But we keep that behind closed doors."

Then he could have met any other questions with "no further comment".

What he did instead, was to legitimize the story, make it bigger, and make himself and the organization look unprofessional.

Just embarrassing!

Agree - He needs someone to coach him on PR skills

KRS -

Not sure how this is an overreaction. The team was completely unprepared to win that game... against an opponent they should have at least stayed competitive. A game that wasn't a simple loss, but a route.

It is an overreaction. The Fire Sing movement was not out and about before last week. Look at Niner Talk, read the comments. People are taking 1 game and making it seem like we will go 2-14 if we are lucky. The consensus reaction seems to be like this has never happened to any other teams before. It has been 1 game so far, 15 more to go. Let's see how the team responds over the next 15 weeks. Let's see how the coaches respond in that same time frame.

You live, you learn, you move on. That game is a thing of the past now. You can't dwell on the past or live with regret.

The sky is not falling.
I find it odd that most are willing to take the media's side on this.
I can't wait to see everyone's reaction about Sing if the 9ers beat the Saints...

It is an interesting contradiction with Singletary...

He is respected as a motivational leader. However, in my life experience the most admired leaders lead from a position of calm confidence. I think his leadership skills may be a little overhyped in the media. Because if you lead by emotion, then your leadership will be up & down as your emotions change. A good leader must show a consistent front to those he would have follow him.

See Bill Walsh...

The Singletary experiment should be over, the first year was impressive he took a 2-5 team and got them to finish up 5-4. He then followed that with 8-8. That was no improvement. Now he starts the season with a blow out loss where everyone other than a few guys on defense didn't play well, and worse yet the coaching staff had trouble getting in plays and was back to miss using time outs. I was for his hiring and hoped he would learn on the job. Looking at his record he isn't doing that, he was a .500 coach right out of the box, and that is what he is now. He is a great motivator which is good enough to make a 5-11 team into 8-8, but he doesn't have the x and o knowledge to step beyond that, nor does he have the knowledge to assemble a staff to make up for his shortcomings.
Just gotta win monday night
What a prick. For a guy who professes a Christian faith, that sure wasn't Jesus-like. But more than just being rude and defensive, he was also classless and unprofessional.

It's now clear that he's taken on more than he can chew as an NFL head coach, and I honestly don't see him around after this season unless we win the division. Anything less, and he's out.

winning cures everything
I am personally not overacting to anything. I am not saying that he's going to turn out to be a horrible coach and that he should be fired. All I'm saying is that these type of meltdown moments are indicators that he could be going down a path of losing control and eventually losing his job. Look at Denis Green and Mora and Dicka, and many others, their media melt downs were the start of their demise.

Sing is the face of the franchise. And you can't allow any situation to cause you to have a melt down.
This organization is a joke. The days of yesteryear seem like a distant, fading memory.

I never wanted Singletary as a head coach. I've been asking for days now why did the Yorks hire him instead of Martz? Or consider a Shanahan or Gruden or Holmgren.

Even in his first year, last year, he showed the signs of incompetency as a head coach. Remember Atlanta?
