I think we cut the wrong QB !

It shows how Sing is not there at all, if you have no faith in your Back up qb aka Carr why keep him ? we should have cut him and moved on with troy Smith insted of getting rid of Nat lots of potanital Davis ! Sing got to question this decision

Come on. Noone is saying Carr is great, but to think that we could cut Carr & go with Davis or Smith as our number 2 is irresponsible.

If we cut Carr, then Nate Davis would be the backup QB for the start of the season (it will take Troy some time to learn the playbook). Nate Davis is not ready at all to start a game - not until he learns the protection calls at least. Carr actually had a decent game against SD - far better than Davis. Carr has a lot of experience playing in the NFL. While he may not be great, he at least won't embarass the 49ers.

I agree. Just does not make sense to me either. Nate was lazy in the offseason. OK, well, he still has upside. And this team really does not NEED a great #2 now anyway.

I never understand why teams who are not competing for a Super Bowl put too much thought on their backup QB.

You either have a Franchise QB or you don't.

If you do have one, then get a good backup, no project

If you don't have one, your backup really does not matter nearly as much as your development of your next Franchise candidate does.

Does Sing really not understand the current state of this franchise?
Does Sing really only care about 2010 because he feels the difference between 8-8 and 9-7 could be his job?
If that were true, why is Baalke not protecting the interests of the Franchise?

We don't have a Franchise QB currently people!

If Alex, becomes that this season...GREAT...then I will absolutely care about our #2 being starter ready now.

If he doesn't........then we will be once again without a prospect...I am not so sure Nate Davis was not still our next shot at a Franchise guy

how can you judge Nate Davis and Carr when you aren't around them everyday. Sing has an interesting way of motivating people sometimes, and I think you are misunderstanding his motivating quotes with hating on players.

Troy Smith will be our #2 as soon as he gets the system down, anyway. He's already familiar with the digit system, so I don't think it will take that long. David Carr is worthless.
