What happened to this guy being our playmaker at safety? Do you think it is just him learning the defense better or do we need a real saefty in FA or the draft?

Does he have even 1 INT? Where are the big hits on receivers? I know he caused the fumble this week against Texas by yanking the ball out.

On the Owen Daniels TD, he appears to loose Daniels and turns to run to the wrong side of the field, and even then he was way behind the receiver that Clements had covered deep anyway. It clearly looked like Dashon was lost on the play. But interestingly, Spencer took the blame for that play, even though he was the corner to the other side. I find it hard to believe that was Spencer's responsibility, sounds more like Spencer is showing leadership taking responsibility in the press for something not his fault.

PS: Can Spencer and Clements trade game checks every time Spencer out-performs Clements?
We were playing cover 3 meaning Spencer was supposed to get deep so yes he was the mistake there Goldson was where he should have been, he's also got an interception made some nice tackles and he forced a fumble to help keep us alive against the Texans. He's played well and yes he has made a few MENTAL mistakes but he's a gifted athlete so once his head catches up to his talent level he'll be a keeper. Clements missing that tackled on Slaton really pissed me off Willis got blocked in the back and then Clements who NEVER WRAPS just flies in and misses. He is a hard hitter for a cornerback but he's not a sure tackler ever, he always comes flying below the waiste and never uses his hands he just uses his shoulders. It cost us the touchdown and it cost us a touchdown against the falcons too, mental mistakes, wrap up and make the tackle live to play another down.
i agree... Goldson has been ok but i was expecting more out of him... also, wasnt manny lawson supposed to our sack specialist this year?... werent they sayin that hes more focused on rushing the passer this year? - I havent seen much out of manny as far as getting to the qb... both diappointing so far
He's just average Better than roman but nothing special. but he's young so it should be expected.
the Game have not slowed down for him , it will happen at the end of the Season , give the guy the chance !
he actually does have an interception. He would have had a couple if it wasn't for nate clements jumping in front of him a couple of games ago. I wouldnt worry...remember we dont have a pash rush thats so great so...the quarterbacks have all day to throw and the recievers are running all over the field...kind of hard to make a play when you're playing follow the leader...

Well Lawson is up there on our team with a total of... 2 sacks. I believe either Willis or Ray Mac lead the team in sacks but I could be wrong. But if we are going to get sacks we need to play with a lead
The guy is playing out of position. He should be playing SS but because Lewis is/was the starter and Roman doesn't have the range to play FS, Goldson has to play there.

He's a better hitter than he is in coverage. I'm really hoping Reggie Smith can come back healthy because it would be nice to see him play with Lewis out. If we're lucky enough to draft Eric Berry, our S problems would be solved.
It seems like we have been going to more zone lately and the DB's are not getting a chance to make a play on the ball
I was expecting more of him this season too. I hope he steps up over the rest of the year.

I had the same conversation with my brother when I was trying to defend Goldson. My brother is not a niner fan so he brought realistic perspective. His quote may sheds some light on the situation. He told me that," Goldson may have average at least 1 pick per training camp practice. However, look at who the Qbs that are passing the ball in training camp."
It hurts, but it is the truth

In practice he already knows the play.
ill take erik berry or taylor mays in the draft
Every time there is a big play I always see him chasing from behind. What does that tell you.
He stripped the ball from Houstons RB Slaton that led to our 3rd TD. So he's already making plays in some way
