Yeah, having a FS who can actually make plays wouldn't hurt.

Draft Eric Berry, he will change our defense overnight.....100% guaranteed!!!

What the hell was he doing on that play. He looked lost and then instead of breaking on the ball he runs side ways and lunges. He f**king sucks and i am tired of him wearing a niner jersey. I hope he has f**ked us over for the last time but i doubt it

he made a great play earlier in the game. everyone gets beat sometime. Manny shoulda been in the endzone protecting against a pass, he's a big lanky mofo and he has leaping ability. they blitzed the wrong LB, shoulda blitzed harelson or ahmad brooks and had lawson in coverage

As will Taylor Mays!!!

Until then how about giving Reggie Smith more Playing time. Lewis and Roman have showed over and over they stink in coverage. I don't know how this is going unnoticed in film session.

It was a lucky play...yes roman shouldn't start...nor should he be put in position for failure but in the end...it was a lucky play.

PS. The Prevent does one thing...prevents you from winning....

I'm on board with that too. Time to give Reggie Smith a shot!!! Against the Rams would be the best time IMO. Their receivers are just as experienced as Smith is, not to mention the Rams are learning a new playbook too.

If he turns his hips and runs toward the ball instead of running side ways he knocks it down. Thats why he hasn't had a pick in however many years. He has no ball skills. And is the great play your talking about when he runs untouched and sacks farve. I could have done that. Maybe everyone gets beat sometimes but roman seems to get beat every time.
Terrible defense. Even Willis sucked. Missing tackles. Willis couldn't cover anyone. Roman found a way to kill us. No pass rush!

I agree, I've seen many other teams put their tight ends or tallest receivers in when going prevent D, we should have had a tall/lanky/fast player like Lawson in the endzone also.
****Breaking News****

Suicide rate hits all-time high in San Francisco.

Random thoughts amid my shock...

Manusky & defense:
Roman...Jesus Christ...how?...why?...should be on the waiver wire tomorrow (nice blitz though)
Goldson, great game but why were you trailing ROMAN 5 yards behind the WR?
Spencer awesome game all around (thank Goldson for that tip)
Clements, gave up a TD with Willis
Willis, horrible day in coverage today...horrible. Not used to blitz again and great in tackle stats
Brooks, phenomenal play...too bad Manusky only used you for three plays! (8 yard loss, pass defended, good pressures...bench!) WTF?
Lawson, 2 great plays at the end but again, like the last throw by Favre, too little, too late. Time to get Brooks worked in as he's better against the run, diagnosis plays quicker and can actually pass rush (bull rush or speed rush)
Spikes, great game
Haralson, decent pressure today, did good job of containing the edge
Balmer, looked solid
Sopoaga & Franklin, best games over their careers! Sopoaga has become the LDE I thought he could become - Franklin is surprising me and both just need to be consistent but they are gaining confidence
Smith, outstanding today
McDonald, may be his best game as a Niner and is becoming quite a weapon!
D-line, wow, fantastic day against an inspired Peterson...beat up Peterson/Favre all day
Blitz, liked the CB/Safety blitzes! Finally. Played prevent-a-win at the end. I liked the initial game-plan of MAKING Favre beat you and mixing it up when he did beat us. Favre would have retired tomorrow if not for that last throw...he'll be sore tomorrow (see, pain killer addictions)
Bly, nice play but you catch that and take that to the house, the game is over
Team defense, needs to work on covering RB's out of the backfield (and short, WR crossing routes)

Raye & offense:
Raye opened up the playbook more today (3rd week in a row) and then turtled again when it counted despite Hill showing AGAIN that he was hot and can get the job done; the guy has NO feel for the game what so ever and he NEEDS to let Hill call the game at the LOS (he's so smart); audible? Hello! I can tell you every single time when it's a run or pass and where the run is going. Imagine how easy that game is to call from the defensive coordinators perspective! I don't know if he changed his game plan at all when Gore went down
Hill, awesome game despite, what 0-11 on 3rd downs. TURN HILL LOOSE!
O-line, terrible game...every time the RB got the ball, he had to juke 5 guys to get 2 yards. Hill had constant pressure in his face all game (again). Staley, Heitmann...just got pwned. Their defense LIVED in our backfield all day and that was b/c of the play caling b/c Hill made the throws he needed too to back them out of 8-9 in the box but only when the passing plays were called
Fantastic play calling for FINALLY using Davis though and Morgan/Bruce this game
Fullbacks, great games again today
Gore? You were out there in spirit and Coffee played his heart out but when your entire offense is centered around one guy, that's not smart at all

Special Teams:
McDonald was awesome today on ST's and QB pressures and Clements owes you a game ball
Then we give up a TD...what a wash!

Environment:
First series on offense the refs didn't call 2 off-sides by the defense along with some additional piss poor calls (Spencer, Smith). MN is a tough place to play and we took their crowd out often

Perspective:
This was a game we were supposed to loose and should have won. I think we learned a lot about the MOXY of this team that seems to be held back by poor coaching decisions and a "you play the game...not to lose"-perspecive. We generally get crushed on away-games esp. 10:AM PST games. Moxy would be a great word to describe this team today and THAT is encouraging given we lost Gore, both LT & LG and spotted them 10 points

Suicide:
Now that I'm done writing this, I'm doing it!

Defense did well containing Peterson except for his 1 run of 35 yards he avg. a little over 2.2 yards a carry. Willis played a great game.

Minnesota fans were leaving in the 4th qtr and booing because there offense was doing so poorly. Farve had to be perfect with that pass and he was. Lewis had to be perfect with his feet and catching it and he was. It sucks but that is reality. If Farve does not make that one play headlines would be reading Niners are for real and is Farve over the hill

I am still trying to understand the taunting call on Spencer that was pure bulls**t.

This loss hurts and it is going to eat at these guys all week until we play St. Louis. We should beat St. Louis then we get into a very challenging part of our schedule with Atlanta after that. This team showed today they can play and are going to make life tough for anyone they go up against.

I think Reggie left the game with an injury
Lawson had a good game, would have been really good had he got to Favre on that last play. Roman was playing well also, but we all know how that ended.
The D-line played a pretty solid game. Franklin and Soap, the board's most underrated players, had a great game. Kinda funny nobody talks about it......
RayMac continues to impress me this season. He didn't get to Favre that much, but his blocked FG really kept us in the game before half time.

Up till that last drive are D was real solid. It's too bad some people are hanging this loss on them
I didn't get to see the game, what did Sop do and what did Franklin do? How was Balmer? Did McDonald do anything else other than to block the field goal? How did the Linebackers do? Did Clements play well? How about T. Brown? How did Goldson do?

I hate it when teams stop doing defensively what got them there. Stop being aggressive and get overly soft in the prevent. Just continue to do what you been doing and the game would have ended. Franklin played his ass off. O line is just lame and it's more than the RT.
