I personally think we should spread it around. Keep them on their toes. They know the 49er's better attribute is the run game. Launch the ball to Morgan, Bruce and Davis.
The classic quandry -- stick with what you do well, or try to surprise with what you don't?

youre probably right but im not sure that running 60 percent wont just result in a bunch of 3 and outs.
well of course i mean effectively

When the cards take a 14-0 lead, what are we gonna do? Ball control offense and score our 1 touchdown per game?
This game could very easily be over in quarter 1.

this is just wishful thinking....but possible..
we have the personal (receiver wise) to be like the Raiders when they had Rich Gannon....or the Steelers when they had Maddox and Big Ben.... where if need be we can go from a power running team, to a 5 wide or 4 wide and start passing our way back into the game....even no huddle if we need to...Hill is pretty good with decisions.
we have.
Bruce, Morgan, Hill, Battle, Spurlock, Vernon, Walker.
we did this last year....and Shaun did fine passing the ball around......although Martz was here......but I think it has more to do with your QB than with your OC.... so I think we can get it done.
but it all depends on our OC as far as giving the ok.....and more importantly our Oline for decent pass protection.

if Hill didn't play like a pile of dog crap during the preseason then I would agree with you. But he played horrible and I hope our defense can keep the score close

I watched the Cards a couple times in preseason and they didn't look too good. Even though the 9ers have some absolutely glaring holes, they still stand a good chance in this game.

After this preseason, I really think the Niners are going to be completely embarrassed in this game.
At least the post game interview with Singletary will be entertaining.

It was muthaf**kin preseason. We didn't attempt too many passes past 15 yards. Say whatever you wantm but I really think that we are to surprise the hell out of the cards. They have absolutely no tape on our offense, besides the run game, from preseason.

if most here are being so got damn negative due to our preseason then why are we so worried about the damn cardinals when they went 0-4 and their d got completely embarrassed as did their so caled #1 cb in rogers cromartie. warner was nowhere near the warner from last yr in the preseason. we play the cards tough as they do us this gm will not be a blow out and will be close to the wire.

Of course, Manusky hasnt gotten this point for the past 2 years....he seems to be satisfied with 3 to 4 man rush the majority of times.....and as you can see, 3rd stringers find ways to beat our all-pro corners.
Isn't it sad? People blame the lack of a bonafide pass rusher, but why is it that even the other teams 2nd and 3rd stringers are ABLE to put on a pass rush against the 49er's? Could it be Manusky's schemes or LACK OF?
They're about to face Kurt Warner, Matt Hasselbeck and Bret Farve and without a pass rush, they're dead meat! ... and Matt Ryan isn't too shabby either!
I heard on TV today that so far they've fired 3 Offensive Coaches, could that apply to a Defensive coach as well?
At this point I think that Singletary can take over the Defense and do as good a job as Manusky.
I will give Manusky the benefit of the doubt that he has something under his sleeves ... but if at the end of 5 games the 49er's are 1-4 or 2-3, somebody better make some serious changes or the season can be over real soon!
I agree.
I don't think Manusky is working his players hard enough.
Every player on our team should wrap a 100lb chain around their body during practice. The extra weight will result in harder work. And harder work leads to more wins.
We just need to work HARDER.
Hahahaha ridicoulous
Dude, you're lost. Dont know what you've been watching lately; Im sure you pinned the Niners going deep into the playoffs each and every season since 2002. And let me guess..you've got them winning over NE in this year's SB as well.
Yea lately I've been watching preseason bro, yea preseason...P..R..E..S..E..A..S..O..N. Say that when they play like crap in the season dude not preseason.
Dude, they've been sucking both in preseason AND in the regular season. It's a pattern. And we are repeating it.
Yea they are 3-1 in the preseason and this is a NEW season DUDE so calm down there MR.
That 3-1 is misleading and you know that. Our 1sts sucked. The only reason we won was because of our backups.
Like I said, there is absolutely NO reason why this team should be any better. We did not upgraded our roster AT ALL. This has been the worst offseason since that one when we cut Garcia and a bunch of others.
Not only that, we also suffer a major downgrade at OC. So really, alll the odds are AGAINST this team.
Hahaha your're funny dude. Ok, we fiished last season pretty good, we have a new coach, Coffee, and possibly Crabtree...and we are worse than last year? Put the pipe down dude.
How old are you? 3? We finished every season since 2005 "strong". You know why? Becuase those are MEANINGLESS games!
Our new coach is an extension of our old coach. Coffee will help but he is only a backup and Crabtree... forget it. And our new OC seems to be Hostler with a lot of melanin.
So please, spare us from this fairweather-irrational optimism.
Sad.

I expect this game will be another hard fought one that could go to either side. I will be curious to see how successful we are against the blitzes and stacking the box. I have a feeling that our offense will show an improvement from the preseason. I sure hope that the defense can supply some turnovers.

If a few things had gone our way, namely in the first game last year McDonald's roughing the passer penalty and Spikes fumble, and Martz's ineptitude/Gore falling down in the second game we would've won both of em. We do play the cards tough, unfortunately I can see it now. Warner's going to have all day to throw and he's going to shred us apart. I have hope in this team, unfortunately I don't think we've improved where we needed to the most and that's the pass rush. Warner is always comfortable when he plays against us. He's got weapons and time to deliver it to them. We better cook up a good scheme to get to him, but I seriously doubt that we have the talent besides Haralson and the coaching to devise such a plan. We have to seriously not shoot ourselves in the foot in order to stand a chance. With our line/qb play I doubt we play a perfect game. Go Niners, prove me wrong.

Hey I share the same concerns as you. I derive a little bit of hope from the way the Cardinals have played recently and Warner's hip along with their coaching changes. Pass rush and turnovers from our defense will be key to our success along with the ability to establish the run.
GO NINERS ....... Let me see something to get excited about ...... a WIN.
