But I think we may end up keeping Damon Huard (yes, 4 QBs) and Mark Roman while we cut Thomas Clayton and send Curtis Taylor to the practice squad.
Also, since Allen Rossum was playing CB at our last minicamp... we may continue to use him at cornerback along with having him handle KR/PR duties. He could be our sixth CB.
OFF TOPIC
But this video just has me pumped up to see what Curtis Taylor can do!!
LINK
He hits really hard and seems to have great ball skills. Had two years of starting experience for LSU playing the SEC.
Thoughts?
I think he fell this low due to a shoulder injury last year and with LSU changing pass coverage schemes under a new DC. That DC lasted one year.

M-Rob should also be worried. He is a one trick pony, special teams that's it. If he does stick around it's because he can also be the emergency backup FB and run the dreaded Wildcat.
Let's say that VD is out with an injury and we start Walker with only Pascoe to play alongside in a 2-TE set. Pascoe gets hurt. Who comes in and plays well? Robinson.
If Norris goes down, who is our best blocking back and ready to fill in? Robinson.
The Wildcat? I guarantee that Raye will use it and it will be Robinson running it.
Who is the best receiver out of the backfield? Robinson.
Who threw the key blocks to spring Rossum for TDs last season? Robinson.
Who is captain of special teams and a team leader? Robinson.
Every team in the NFL has had the opportunity to take Clayton from our practice squad for two years and NOT ONE TEAM wants him. He sucked at Kansas State and is at best a one-dimensional player.
Anytime I see someone pick Clayton over MRob, one of two things are clear:
1) The guy doesn't know football, or
2) The guy doesn't like Michael Robinson and has lost his credibility.
No place for personal bias. We want what is best for the Niners

Yeah, that Curtis Taylor vid is DOPE!
BTW, wtf is the crazy love affair cats have with Thomas Clayton???
TommyFrazier
would you mind or anyone else starting a topic with the taylor video?
I just got my webzone account reactivated, so I can't start a topic for 7 days.
I just want people to see that we might have finally got the FS we have been looking for, a hard hitter with come ball skills!!

These are the issues I see. I think we find someway to keep Ulbrich, Hudson, and Ziegler around. I have a feeling Brooks doesn't make it and Ulbrich keeps his spot, but will probably lose it next year. Hudson has good special teams talent so he may find a spot on the practice squad. Ziegler probably will hit the practice squad as well. With this being the last year on Bruce's contract I would hope we can hold on to him for the time being.
For the final 53 I only have a few qualms. I really dont see us carrying 4 QB's on the final roster. I think Balmer will get the staring nod at DE. I would also put R Smith as the #2 FS, if Goldson gets hurt I would rather have a replacement who has at least a little NFL experience.
Lastly both Battle and Ray Mac are coming off injuries. We may be able to slide at least one of them in on the PUP list.

I will give you a hypothetical.....what if Heitman gets hurt? We put Wragge at C and have no other legitimate backup at C or OG? I know you will say Snyder but you would be running very thin at depth. The kid is only in his second year give him at least 3 years before you decide to cut him.

Ya I'd agree, I do think Arnez Battle will beat out Thomas Clayton for a Roster spot however.
It is a little scary that we will have to be fillin 3 roster spots with FA/UDFA that are not currently a 49er.
Maybe a trade? If not we might have to hope some servasable vets will get cut around the NFL.

Egboh is a 3-4 DE, not a 3-4 OLB. Zak Keasey is not eligible for the practice squad.

Ahahaha Clayton over Robinson. Heck Coffee might have a hard time over Robinson. What are you smoking?
And Rick Jean-Francois could start if you did your research...not a bad post though
