Still, I hate to see games decided on blown calls. I'd have no arguments if we just got flat out beat but that's not what happened. We were down, but battled all the way back only to lose because in that moment, for whatever reason, the refs suddenly
decided to "just let them play."

We lost. Ok, whatever fine. But why we lost doesn't make much sense to me right now.

I don't think they just suddenly decided to let them play. I mean there were only 7 penalties total. But I still stick by my statement if Crabtree takes a better route and doesn't run right at the DB he probably had a much better chance to get the call. And the blitz caused a bad pass which probably led to the refs to not call a Hold or PI.

Ok, do you all want to go no call for no and see if it came down to "letting them play"? And if that is the way they will call the game, whne do they draw the line? Does Smith have to tackle Crabtree for it to be PI? How do the players know that the refs will "let them play"?

See how the refs have been calling it all game and adjust accordingly.

And on the last play of the game just run everybody the f**k over and catch the ball lol

Adjust according to what? Smith inflicted more contact than Culliver, yet he did not get the PI and Culliver did. How is that?

And another irrelevance to the rule. Where does the player route matter on a PI in the rule book?

Both teams should adjust accordingly just as the players should. The Refs were letting the teams be physical, we tried to run right at them and got stopped earlier. Then we just suddenly decide to completely go away from the run game. If they're letting the line go at it, then you have to stay physical. They let the game get out of hand and were forced to throw the ball at that point.

I'd have to see a replay of the other plays you're talking about. But I still think the Crabtree play was a 50/50 call.

It was just a terrible route by Crabtree in general. And it's not about him taking a terrible route, it's about him running right at the DB and pretty much asking to be held. Better route by Crabtree = might be ruled catchable = could be a flag.

There were only 7 flags all game. Play physical, Refs will call it every now and then but if they're letting you play be physical.
Can't blame it al in the refs but we have to admit refs were horrible. The Crabs & Dixon hold were obvious. There were other like the two heads slaps against Niners on refs noses & the shove on ref. that would have been called on any other game but I guess refs wanted to be spectators. Our game plan wasn't the best so game over we lost.
Not going to lie, taking this loss hard, and we clearly didnt handle the pressure of the superbowl well. If we had started the game the way we played the second half it would have been a blow out. I really dont feel the best team won and our guys have themselves to blame for that to great extent. But with all that being said, when the game was on the line and we put ourselves in position to pull of the miracle....the Refs without a doubt took it away from us, and it was deliberate. After calling a tight and pretty fair game, in the last 5 minutes they put the flags away and let the Ravens do whatever the hell they wanted to make sure Ray got his big win. Crabtree was badly held, and the only reason he is pushing off is because he is being roughed up all the way down the field that he is pushing on the guy to get away, Reed was WAY offsides on the conversion, and if you watch the safety play they used to burn time, dead center in frame....right in front of the ref, is their center BEAR HUGGING one of our linemen as he has the punter dead to rights. All of this was let go in a game what was definitely not just winable, but possibly seconds from being in our favor. You can it "letting them play" all you want and if it was just one of those calls, I would agree...but throwing out the entire rulebook at the finish just reeks of favoritism and after the falating of Ray for the last two weeks by the NFL I have my doubts that it wasnt at least subconciously intentional.

Lol. Wait, so receivers should adjust their routes to reduce the likelihood of being held? How about the refs do their job? Is that really too much to ask?

Had he not been held, he would have had a shot at the ball. It was low enough for him to make it if he jumped.

Having a 200 pound defender strapped to his torso is the only thing that made the ball uncatchable.

If he wouldn't have ran into the defender he could've made a play on the ball. Terrible route.
Analyze last four calls. Run by James & three throws to Crabtree. We definitely missed Manningham. I'm just glad Randy Moss is out of here. Jenkins better step it up this yr.
I don't know if he's a murderer, but he is a self-righteous juiced up cheat.

Ok, so where is the line at this point? Thats why its BS. Its too subjective. Therefore the RULEBOOK is how they should call the game

The end zone is only but so big man. I don't know if I understand how running any route invites holding.

Doesn't matter if he ran seven yards, stopped then stood there looking stupid. A hold is a hold.

It should have been flagged.

The refs are human. They're going to let things go and call other things. That's how it is. It has always been that way.
