From the Akathist to Jesus Christ For a Loved One who has Fallen Asleep
Kontakion 2
Like an inconsolable dove, the soul is borne aloft over this earthly vale, contemplating from the heights of divine reason the sins and temptations of its past life and bitterly sorrowing over every irretrievable day which has passed without benefit; but, O master have mercy on Your servant that he may enter into your rest crying out: "Alleluia!"

Since you suffered for all the world, since You poured forth tears and the sweat of blood for the living and the dead - who, then, could restrain us from prayer for the departed one? Imitating You, Who descended even into Hades, we pray for the salvation of Your servant:
Jesus, Giver of Life, illumine him with Your light.
Jesus, may he be forever with You, and the Father.
Jesus, You call all to Your vineyard, forget not to illumine him by Your light.
Jesus, generous Bestower of eternal rewards, show him to be a child of your bridal chamber.
Jesus, soothe those left behind your mystical consolation
Jesus, All-merciful Juge, grant Your servant Steven Sabol the sweetness of paradise.
May Steven Sabol's memory be eternal, now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.
