I think the main reason is the fact it's a part of the culture, you guys are brought up on football just like Australians are raised on AFL It becomes a part of you from the first time you kick a footy with your old man then in the schoolyard with your mates etc. It's always there no matter how bad your week has been it can be turned around by your team getting a W

Anyone ever watched an AFL game? Think we might have you on the physicality levels

I've watched some and yes Aussie rules football is crazy physical . . . as is Rugby. I played football as an offensive lineman, usually center, for 12 seasons and never had worse than bruises and hyper-extensions. I played Rugby for two years and was done after I severely compressed some vertebrae during a scrum. I've been going to a chiropractor a couple time a year ever since.

Yea rugby is insane.... Bloke was killed in a NRL game over east on the weekend from a tackle.

Jesus . . .
Some guy once said "Mountain Climbing, Bull Fighting, and Race Car Driving are the only true sports. Everything else is just are just games." I would add Football that list.

Bull fighting is questionable. I don't like that the bull fighter fights the bull after it has been stabbed and bled for a long time before the fighter steps in the ring.

Fight the bull at 100%. Not at 20%.

I don't see bullfighting as a sport. It is actually quite disgusting.
None of the above.

I watch it because 11 people must execute in order to reach a common goal; while 11 others are trying to F up their plan.

Grew up in Australia I still try to catch some Australian rules football games now that I live in Cleveland and just added fox sports soccer channel just so I can watch the NRL.
I watch a lot of games because I bet money on them
I watch because it's easier than porn to masterbate to.

This combined with the strategy aspect for me.
I think I'm more of a Niner fan than a football fan. The only reason I watch other teams is to "scout them." If it wasn't for the Niners, I dont know that I would even watch football.

When I do watch the Niners, I like everything. Its the dynamic of all the little things coming together and the pay off of the "big play."

Its complex simplicity.

Can confirm: wrote my senior project's paper explaining why NASCAR is a sport.
