Niners fire Singletary

Mike Singletary

When 49ers owner Jed York declined on Sunday to commit that coach Mike Singeltary would be coaching the team next week, the message was clear: Singletary wouldn’t be coaching the team next year.

As it turns out, he won’t be coaching the team next week. David White of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that Singletary has been fired.

He got the job on an interim basis in 2008, after Mike Nolan was fired. Rumors of a firing had swirled for weeks, but the 49ers opted to stay put, presumably because the 49ers remained alive for the NFC West crown despite being 5-9.

After the 49ers lost to the Rams on Sunday, finally putting them out of their and everyone else’s misery, the Niners could make their move.

Jed has tipped his hand - we have seen this before:
1. fires coach before end of season. DONE
2. spontaneously promotes an interim coach from within. DONE
3. names a GM promoted from within. POSSIBLE
4. retains the interim as new HC. POSSIBLE

The cycle may be continuing

I don't think Tomsula has enough time to EARN the job. Sing did well in his interim stint... but since this was done so late in the process I am not concerned that Tomsula will be retained as HC.

I think HE was promoted to give the team an oportunity to keep its coordinators IF the new coach would like to.... I don't see it happening but this move doesn't put either of them in an awkward situation if they are not hired as the HC.

Team source: Mike Singletary was just told he is fired.

I already reported this faker troll

Mike Singletary will be fired at the end of the season according to San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York. He also went on to say that they will be hiring a new general manager as well. All in all, the routine after a disappointing season like the 49ers have had thus far.

In my opinion, it's undoubtedly the wise decision because neither have done a half-decent job this season. In fact, I believe the management deserves the majority of the blame.

Rumors indicate that Jon Gruden and Jim Harbaugh are the leading candidates for the position
, yet both would like structure in the front office before they come to coach.

Singletary is 18-22 as the team's head coach.

I am surprised nothing from Adam Schefter... Guess at ESPN with no Sunday Night Football, you are able to get to bed early.

Ain't that the pathetic sad truth.

They've been running this for the last 15 minutes on NFL Network.
