I bet we move Reggie Smith over to FS, and slide Goldson over to SS....I like Goldson as a SS more than a FS anyways.

now he needs to do this to Roddy White
I'd rather he get an INT (or two)
INT's are great, but you put a hit on a guy like that, he'll be alligator handing every catch over the top for the rest of the game. I'll take the penalty to put the fear of god in a WR. Every single time. That was one of Ronnie Lott's strategies that got lost along the way in football.
Amen to that!!!!!
It didn't get lost. It became a penalty.
But if we keep losing, we might as well feed our bitterness by clobbering the other teams players. At the very least, Taylor Mays will give us that.

No, it did get lost. Putting the fear in the receivers is worth the penalty.

Perhaps, but my point is that it was not a penalty when Ronnie Lott played. In other words, Lott did not get penalized for hitting hard, but today's players do.
The Taylor Mays hit in that clip, is a rare example for several reasons.
1) In college football, they basically allow you to kill people; even quarterbacks. I was surprised they threw a flag.
2) Not many big hits cause a player to limp off the field like that, most injuries involve getting stuck in the field at an awkward angle.
Therefore, if Mays wants to hit people the way he did in college, it will take probably at least 10 big penalties before he is able to accomplish the "super hit" like he did above.
Just because he gets a penalty, doesn't mean he will get the maximum bang for the buck.
"That" above hit is certainly worth the penalty though.

If I'm not mistaken he has had a couple special teams tackles(one for sure vs. Seattle) in which he has wrapped up quite nicely. I just hope he can learn when to lay the smack down and when to make a proper tackle. Just watching him, the little we've been able too, he's got plenty of speed. But he's got to learn when to make the hit, when to play the ball, or when to make the tackle. As said we've seen him wrap up, but you really can't base anything of one tackle. It was an impressive form tackle though.

I'm looking forward to seeing if he steps up today with the playing time he gets.

I predict that he gives up a couple of good plays today, but salvages his debut with a couple of 'Woo' hits.
