After hearing that this is their opinion....well, I think that they are quite possibly the least intelligent football minds in mainstream sports media.

The guy does not make sense for the Niners at all. McNabb plays in a different style of offense, played Pop Warner with Moses, and is a massive injury risk.

Worth a trade? F*CK NO!

I concur. If anything we already have a younger Mcnabb supposedly in Davis. So thanks but no thanks, he's been in the league for a while too, and how many years are you gonna keep sayin with him the SB's coming. He's been in Philly for i dont know how long, and his last playoff run was with TO, and even in that game, he choked a bit.

Came out dancing and s**t against the cowboys, i guess to show he aint scared. Well thats about the best time he had that whole game. And his reason for making it to the postseason was CONTINUITY, DJack, Westbrook, and Samuels and them on D. The team should of made it past the Boys, but didnt. So i say in my eyes he's like Randall C. Great QB, but may never win a ring.

Stay in philly, we good over here.

What are you talking about! McNabb made it to the NFC championship game last year against the Cards. duh. And to say that he doesnt have very much football in him is rediculous, look at favre and warner two of the best QBs this season that are still in it. Who knows if McNabb came to SF it might be a good change of scenery for him. I would take McNabb in a heartbeat

Hm...WCO qb, injury prone, not even the best player on his team, and will maybe get us one winning season after we change our whole offensive system again just to suit him?

No.

Raye is expandable. If McNabb is available we'd be morons not to get him.

Expandable? Is he reversible, too?

Bro, McNabb isn't the answer for this team. Switching the offense to fit an aging player that will maybe get you one winning season is an absolutely ridiculous idea.

IMO not worth it

Nabb is 8 years older than Smith

Nabb had a 60.3 comp % 22 td and 10 picks with a good offense
Smith had a 60.5 comp % 18 td and 12 picks with an offense that was mostly crap

Is that upgrade worth the amount they would want for him I say no way

Can we let Smith have two years to play just once to see what happens, damn!?!
I can see McNabb legitimately opening the playoff window for us, but for how long? While it'd be great to get back into the playoffs, is a round 1, maybe a round 2 playoffs loss worth the draft pick(s)?

McNabb has a good 4 years in him. I don't buy that we have to switch the system either. Before Bret threw his arm out last season he did just fine in the Jets offense despite the fact that he too was a life time West Coast guy.

One winning season is one more winning season then we'll ever see out of Alex too.

All of this is moot anyway. As long as Andy Reid is the HC. McNabb will be the QB.
What price would we have to pay to get McNabb here next year?

Because I'm not sure its worth it. The Eagles will have to let one of those QB's go via FA following next season and we've got Alex coming back as a starter. We could see what Alex does next year and still get Kolb or McNabb after that if things don't work out.

Realistically, whatever you give up in trade for McNabb/Kolb, you're really just giving up to get that player one year sooner. Is having McNabb here one year earlier really worth the picks/players we'd have to give up to get him?

But...the Jets sucked last year.
I heard this as well. They said McNabb would be a perfect fit for the Niners since they are a team with a lot of talent but have questions at qb. They said that McNabb would immediately make them one of the favorites in the NFC in 2010.

I like it. I don't see why so many people are constantly bashing him. He is a very capable QB.
For those who are saying that McNabb is on his last legs: This season was the 3rd highest rated season of his career, only behind the 2004 and 2006 (where he only played 10 games) seasons. So that notion is simply untrue.

Now, if you don't want McNabb because you'd rather see Alex play under the same system for a second straight year while also sticking with a younger option, your point is a fair one. But if you're one of those people who think that McNabb is a "choker" and would rather stick with Smith, that is bulls**t. Smith has never taken a team to the playoffs, never had a winning season, never singlehandedly won his team a game. And I can count on a few fingers the amount of big drives that he has led. Now, this is not a knock on Smith, just the reality.

Me too. He's easily top 5 caliber, and no I'm not exaggerating. I think people just hate him b/c he can't ever win the big game. News flash, the niners haven't been in the NFC Championship since 1997. We haven't even had a chance to lose a game of such caliber in 13 years. With that said, I only see him as a 2-3 plug in, until the niners find a long term solution.

No, but they did mention our two 1st round draft picks.

Ha! I wouldn't trade for him anyway....but he DEFINATELY is not worth a 1st round draft pick if that's what they were implying

Naw that's not what they were implying at all. They were talking about fans in Philly wanting McNabb to leave town. And how the fact taht Philly's offensive strategy just is never gonna work in the playoffs b/c they don't run the ball at all. Then off the top Greeney just says this is kinda off topic(that him and some other staff member who is a niner fan had a conversation about McNabb) that if the Niners would trade for McNabb they would be instant contenders to win the NFC. And Schlerth and Golic agreed. The main reason they said this is b/c of the fact that Mcnabb is getting older and the Eagles never run the ball. More or less that McNabb would be a good fit to help develop and lead the young team while having Gore gives him an actual running game, and takes pressure off throwing the ball so much. they didn't go into any type of detail or anything just a out of no where kind of comment and a 2 minutes discussion about it.
