Consider trading for a #1 WR?

We already have plenty of receivers...Jason Hill's hardly played, and if Crabtree does sign, then we've got too many. Given the running game is a staple of the offense, what sense does it make to trade for a #1...and who's going to give up a top WR...nobody, that's who! We drafted for a #1...Crabtree.

Who are all these Superstar WR's that are just readily available as free agents? Arizona isn't trading Boldin to us, and Edwards isn't that great.
Edwards >>>> every WR on our roster.
most overrated WR in the league
drops balls like its cool
yes he has had plenty of drops.... but the guy is a monster... great deep threat that will make the safeties play back or double him... he is just on a horrible team... players play better when they are on a better team..
if the niners have a chance to get him for cheap they should not be stupid and go for it.. Ive watched the guy when he was playing at U of M... Hes still got TONS OF UPSIDE...
He just needs a good system or even a good QB for that matterQuote:
Edward had that one really good season, the only one where he had 1000+ yards. In his other three seasons he has averaged 756 yards with 49 catches. Bruce's one year with us he had 835 yards with 61 catches. So Bruce >>>>>> Edwards

"Next year Bruce will retire and we have our receivers already with Morgan, Battle, Jones, Hill, Spurlock, Ziegler."
Parker could use your post to try and get more money from the Niners.

Yes the Niners have plenty of players that play the wr position just as many teams do. What we don't have is a legit #1 WR.

I would love it if we got Edwards. He would singlehandedly (pun intended) change our offense. Denvers new head coach is revamping his team so he might love to get rid of a headache for a #1 pick he could get a "his guy" with. If Edwards got out of Denver and got the deal he wants he would be happy and our pick would go to someone we could only meet in the Superbowl. Even if he was some trouble I think Singletary would keep him in line and Edwards could never seem like much trouble compared to the parade of basket cases at receiver we have become accustomed to.

Next year we could draft a WR in the 1st round. After all, we have 2. Parker has no leverage at all in this case. This holdout is probably one of the dumbest holdouts in the history of sports. Even if you knew that another team would pay you more money to play with them, is it really worth holding out over and tarnishing your reputation? I really question his love for the game.

With the Panther's (likely) high pick next year, Dez Bryant is looking pretty good right now.

If this is true, then we need to get this kid. Young and a true talent on a terrible team.

yeah but we can get a franchise qb and a rt, or berry and suh/cody/kindle etc, and we are going to use that pick on a wr? we already have one, just get him signed. if we use a pick on a wr i want a trade so atleast were getting a guy who can contribute as a number one guy asap. if we are going to draft one and give them crabtree money with a top 5 pick then we might as well just sign cashtree.

The thing is, he wants what, 40 million? We could sign a WR for half that and use the savings to fill other needs.

I'm pretty sure Edwards is borderline garbage
any receiver that puts up 1300+ yds and 16tds in a season qualifies as a #1 receiver... I agree that he had some issue with the droppsies last year, but that doesnt take away from his obvious skill.
Its either Dez Bryant next year or trade for this guy... I'd like Brandon Marshall, but I dont see management making a play for him with all that baggage.

but he only drops perfectly thrown passes. With what we have at QB. He'd be tight.

With Raye as the OC, having a true #1 WR is probably not a priority
