Robert Turbin, in for a workout, this kid has always been fast, he is a local, played his pewee ball in the FFL (Fremont football league) I remember him, I coached against him, kid was unstoppable! I hope we take him 7th rounder? IDK, it would just be cool. Practice squad guy, someone to push Hunter...

LOL. Nice April Fool's joke.

Seriously, had no idea how highly he's rated, when I saw that I had to call our defensive coordinator, from back in the day and apologize! I goggled him and saw some highlights, holy crap! He is just what we need, a fast powerful back who can catch!

we'll he's rated as a 2nd - 3rd rounder but could fall a bit if the board falls a certain way. However he had arguably one of the best combines for a runningback tying for the lead in the bench press, a top 10 40 time of 4.50, a top 10-15 shuttle and one of the best if not the best vertical and long jumps so he is easily the 5th best RB in the draft behind Richardson, Miller, Wilson, Martin. The only reason he is the 5th back is because of his injury history, he tore a ligament in his big toe or something crazy and he also tore an acl.

That's fantastic, he is a good kid, like I said my friend coached him in high school. I was offensive co for our pewee team back when we played against Turbin, I have a pretty bad memory, but I remember this kid! I gotta call our old camera man and see if he saved any film on the kid.

I hope we can take him, I don't think Frank has much left in the tank, and Jacobs and Dixon are not suitable every down backs, and hunter while talented in not big enough to be an every down back...meaning despite all the backs we have heading into camp, we still don't have "the guy" we need...I would be stoked to have this kid on the team, I have been reading up and watching his highlights! WOW eye popping stuff, he was a handful as a pewee, he is a beast as a man!

You're a friend of Bob Spain?

Casey Kester, was the guy coaching way back then...lol. I've since moved out of Fremont, but I tell you FFL, put a whipping on the Pop Warner all stars, and the general level of play is better than I've seen where I'm living now!

Coach Kester? He's a great coach and even greater person. He was one of my coaches last year at my high school, small world lol. But yes, I have Turbin in all of my mocks. Even with Jacobs, Cartright and Dixon on the roster, id still take Turbin. my logic= niners have become a top team, top teams mean better records, better records means later draft pick. With there really only being 3 possibly elite backs (Marcus Lattimore, Montee Ball, i forgot the 3rd guy) coming out next year, theres a chance we miss out on all 3. Assuming we dont draft Peter Konz with our first pick, next year, we're going to need a C, RB, DT, and S. not necessarily in that order but thats what we'd be looking at. I feel that Turbin is 1st round talent coming from a 3rd round conference(utah state). Physically, he can go toe to toe with Richardson, almost same measurables. Turbin is just slightly bigger and faster. He would truly be the biggest steal of the draft if we took him in the 3rd. We have to think future, not present.
I would drool over Turbin in the 3rd if by some miracle he is there. Jacobs, Cartright and Dixon are all very Cut-able in terms of salary and potential contribution. Turbin/Hunter could be a beastly one two as Gore's career winds down.

Cartwright is the new costanzo - he wont get cut, just like we carried 5 ILBs last season we will carry 4 RBs this year. But yes if we can land any of the top 5 4 RBs behind Richardson then both Jacobs and Dixon will get axed.

Turbin is probably the guy we will realistically get if we end up drafting a RB early, he's a legitimate 1 cut, north and south runner who can plow over defenders, just what we need.

Don't forget the ever forgettable...Moran Norris, we can cut him as well!

Did you play in the FFL? Casey and I coached together, on the FFL 49ers.
Turbin plays like Lynch. He would play very well into what this offense likes to do. I would take him in the 2nd if need be. He does have a 2-3 round grade, and I don't see him lasting to our 3rd. Depending on what he has shown teams in personal workouts, he could even be gone by our 2nd. Big, strong, fast, and he can catch. He is a 20-25 touch back. I will watch him wherever he goes... Unless its the Cowboys or Steelers, I can't stand those teams.
