Ditto, though I think Luck might be more Pro-ready, Mallet might need the "Aaron Rodger's treatment", where he gets 2 years to learn from the same OC and sit behind a QB near the end of career so he can pick up veteran game insight. Then Mallet will blossom into a top 5 QB.

If I had a choice I'd take Luck, but if we got Mallet, we'd have to pick up a QB to basically mentor Mallet until he's ready, but that's just my opinion and have definitely been wrong before

Realistically if we salvage some sort of a season and finish aroun 500. then we'll probably end up looking at ponder, locker or pryor. Luck and mallet will likely be gon by pick 10. I agree that i would do everything in my power to get Luck, he has proved to be the most nfl ready of the qbs, however i would take a serious look at pryor. Im a michigan fan and alumni so i hate ohio state, but if you watch pryor compared to last season he has made significant improvment, despite his apt for running he's made quite a few nfl quality throws this season, i honestly am impressed with his progress, not the mention the dual threat he posseses would give us something we havent had since steve young, and that would be a good thing for this young offsnsive line. Bottom line is that short of the niners reaching the superbowl or at least the nfc championship, we should draft a qb next year, prefferably one that can start immediatly.

After the first couple weeks of the season - I thought Mallett was slightly better than Luck...but now that has reversed. Luck just looks so natural out there. He has "it' - you can just feel it when he is throwing. The poise, the way he feels the rush, the way he goes through his progression - very impressive. The thing that made me weary of him when the season started is now his strength (ie. he had only 1 year of starting experience).

This is a big week for Luck - it's a big game for Stanfurd and I want to see how Luck does against a top team. But, so far - I've been very very impressed with Luck.

We should not draft a QB until:

1) The 49ers implement a system in which any QB brought in can thrive in

2) The 49ers have competent coaching on the offensive side of the ball


Until those 2 things happen, this toxic environment the 49ers are currently in will ruin any QB.

I understand your point but the Niners are not going to go anywhere with Alex Smith as the QB. It is time for a new direction both at HC and QB.

I would like to have Harbaugh as HC and do whatever it takes to get Andrew Luck. I think that would change this franchise around and hopefully restore the glory.

Questions... if you had your choice which of these combos would you prefer?
1) Harbaugh and Luck
or
2) Gruden and Mallet

If Luck stays, Ryan Mallet has to be the one, but again I think he'll be a top 10-15 pick.

I dont know what everyone sees in Luck. When you watch him play do you see game changer, or game manager? Any half ass backup QB can come in and manage a game in the NFL. When said he has bad footwork, he does. When comparing him to the best QBs in the NFL at this stage of their development. Of course he looks good next to the other guys in college. Ill let you guys in on a lil secret, not every year a QB worth a high draft pick comes out. So some guys get overrated due to their competition. No one from this class has enough talent to warrent a high draft pick other than Mallett. Pryor would need to significantly improve his footwork and throwing mechanics to even be a Josh Freeman. Luck is just average all the way around. I dont see anything he will be outstanding at at the NFL level. Reminds me a LOT of Trent Edwards to be honest. Mallett is very flawed as well but he is the only one in college eligible to come out who passes the ball well enough to be a good to great player in the league. And when drafting a QB, if he aint gonna be a good to great player, dont take him. Not early anyway.

Gannon, Brad Johnson? IMO Those were decent qbs that just flourished in his system. IDK if he could develop a rookie, he never did in Oakland or Tampa

You guys are kidding me right?? This guy has already crushed USC and Oregon last year, throwing for four TD's and NO picks in both of those games. And USC was a tougher team then than it is now. So far hes thrown for 11 TD's with only 2 picks, I just don't see what you guys AREN'T seeing, hes got everything, poise in the pocket, mobility, arm-strength, accuracy (well he could probably work on it just a little more), MOXY--------SWAGGGGG, and yes I do see a game changer, better than what we've got right now atleast.

im talking about this year last year is last year

luck is the best qb out right now and i think hes a great prospect but THIS YEAR he hasnt faced that strong opponents
