Yesterday was interesting. It made me wonder what would have been done differently had McC still been GM. While I will reserve judgment for awhile, my first impression is that Baalke has an opinion about what the team needs most, and then makes bold moves to get it fixed.
This is not what I saw in McC. The team cried out for better O linemen, but I think McC was too invested in his Baas, Snyder, and Rachel picks to admit that he may have screwed up. His OL moves were weak, indecisive and ineffective. Under Baalke, I think they are fixed now.

Stop whining already.. We fixed our OL for the next decade.
What if Davis busts at OT and we have to guards???
See my point?
Don't get me wrong, I am happy with our picks. But it could have been better.
NickBradley, have you seen Iupati on tape? He just throws people aside like rag dolls. He's incredible, you'll like him man for the next 12 years.
...AT IDAHO. Look at their '09 schedule:
at New Mexico State
at Washington
San Diego State
at Northern Illinois
Colorado State
at San Jose State
Hawaii
at Nevada
Louisiana Tech
Fresno State
at No. 6 Boise State
Utah State
vs. Bowling Green
So, Iupati TOSSED AROUND SCRUBS.
Seriously bro, you need to go be a fan of some other team. You are the kind of fan that doesn't deserve to rep the Red and Gold. You get on my nerves...
Who the hell are you? Because I thought we could have made a better pick I should be a fan of another team? What are you, 13?

The guy you stated that we should have picked would not have been a better pick and the Steelers would have took Iupati at 18. Why didn't they pick Baluga to play guard, the instead picked a Center and are switching him to guard.

Iupati's ceiling is much higher than Bulaga's. Bulaga will be better day 1 but Iupati will be better year 2.

Because Pouncey will eventually take over at center for the 32-year old they have now. And almost every scouting Report I've seen on pouncey says that he'd play G in the NFL until ready for C.
Furthermore, Pouncey was an all-american at guard before switching to Center.

Coaches and Scouts have much more access to info regarding potential picks
Film, Interviews, Private Workouts, discussions with past coaches and the scouts attending games and practices
so im gonna go out on a limb and say that they may be better at judging talent then us Zoners using a few draft sites to do thier research

Yes -- might as well not discuss...better off leaving it to the experts.

If Bulaga was asked by scouts and GM's to play OG in the pro's he wouldn't be rated higher than Iupati nonetheless. Iupati is one of the best OG's to declare in the last 10 years.
We were prepared to take him at 13 if Davis was gone so that tells you Iupati as a guard was rated higher than Bulaga as an OT. And it is better to stick to your board then reach a little for a player.

You can't be serious can you?
Dude, Bulaga IS a converted guard -- he played OG at Iowa before sliding over to OT.
Most tackles start out at guard as freshmen in college, then move to guard as the Seniors and Juniors graduate or move on to the NFL.
But Davis was a Freshman All-American at guard, and its dishonest to say that they'd have to learn a new position. Any OT can play guard.
