Really hoping Robinson can be back for the Atlanta game, but if he's not he should hopefully be back after the Bye for the Raiders along with Deebo and Kirk. A WR group of Evans, Robinson, Deebo, Kirk, Cooks is notably better than Evans, Cooks, Watkins and Cowing.

Hopefully Watkins keeps developing. Cowing - so far - has been a bit of disappointment. I don't know if you need to trade for a DT when CJ West is going to be available soon. Same with a WR when Stribling/Robinson will be available soon too. The only thing I could think of as a trade is somehow getting good draft capital from a Mac Jones trade. Hassan Riddick and Joey Bosa are still available to be signed, no need to expend draft capital to get them.

Its a bummer to see Cowing and Watkins in the game and they get zero targets. Wait, Cowing had 1 catch against SEA -- a short spot route an RB could run.

What the heck kind of calf injury did Kirk have that he still can't practice? He's been out 10 weeks and still won't join practice this week.

Niner Talk » Injuries 2026 (We've had enough!)

I'd like to see this game open with Black running downhill between the tackles. These runs had some success against SEA and it would be great to establish that more for the offense. Let Black get some rhythm and keep CMC from taking that wear. Also really need to establish some #2 receiver depth. 9ers can't have such a 1 dimensional pass attack through Evans.

Rams really are a Jaxson Dart injury and Sirianni/Hurts collapse from being 0-5.

Screw him. He quit on the team before the divisional game last year. Enjoy your little dumpster fire franchise. It'll be the last head coaching job you'll ever have

Yeesh, ... SMH at the folks who have an axe to grind with the 49ers FO.

49ers seem to know what they're doing while you don't have a clue.

See, this is was I do not understand. Valdez was an undrafted free agent in 25. The Niners put him in their PS twice. Anyone could have picked him up. No one did. He was promoted to the active roster on Oct 3. So, what is wrong with the evaluating process for every other team in the NFL? And by game 5, here he is! And you are complaining that something is wrong with our evaluating process?

Well, for one thing I imagine most of the effort was being extended to the starters and the existing depth, But enough of the process was available to work with him last season to bring him on to become the player he is now. And to get him on to the active roster when needed. The Niners had a pile of young talent who needed work and development and some of who are now contributing big time. I suppose that they could have moved him up to the regular squad a couple of weeks earlier. But other positions had to be managed as well, like wide receivers for example.

"Everyone here can see it in the preseason and regular season. But the 49ers can't." But they did, and here we are.

It's more why in general and not in relation to other teams or a direct "Kyle sucks bs". This shows coaching staffs/front office put a heavy weight on draft position. That's what needs to change. I assume a coach and GM doesnt want to tell their owner yeah we f'ed those first 3 rounds but this udfa looks great! now i will say Kyle and John seem to have a very good relationship with Jed in this manner, but I kinda whish they were more black and white even to themselves about what they see. I get in the end he is ours and it's not like were not ecstatic about it, but at the same time we simply wonder why not sooner etc.

DLine abilities aren't static. Look at CJ West - last year he looked like superman, this year not so super. Same with Valdez, he wasn't all that and a bag of chips last year, but he consistently developed and got better and better. All he needed was a chance, they all have *one opportunity* and not much more to break into the starting line up and he was able to show enough to keep him on the 53 and he just continues to get better.

Look at Cowing, he's getting his opportunities, but he's not taking as much advantage of it as I'd like him to have. Gurendo had several opportunities, but injury and fumbling cost him and now he's relegated to IR for the time being. Valdez can fall off the cliff if he doesn't keep at it like CMC. They all can fall off a cliff, if they don't keep at it. It's the NFL and it's life. If you aren't advancing, you are falling behind.

I agree. Kyle said that year 1-2 is usually the biggest jump for most players, but it's kind of where some who flashed year one also falters and or fall flat in year 2. Sadly, Injuries derail development. I think that's the case with West and Collins. I wonder if Collins will ever play again (effectively) with that injury.

I get it's all a crapshoot, but the silver lining is all these injuries have forced Kyle to put in players he otherwise may have never tried the last two years. There is something to be learned in that. I think he realizes it.

I mean they did exactly what you say they don't at the most important position in sports…QB.

dumped a top 3 pick they spent a mountain of picks on for the last pick in the draft.

Sebastian Valdez clearly worked on his craft and the staff had helped him develop into a rotational defensive lineman. High pick will always get play over UDFAs to start things out.

When did I say that? Devil's advocate - Would they have if Lance and Jimmy got hurt? Once they saw Purdy play they appropriately moved on. Would we have ever seen Purdy or Valdez otherwise? That's the question. Also, I am not saying it "negative", it's really just an open question.

swap later rd picks.

I'd also call the Texans and see if any of their backup WRs are for sale cheap.

The Hutchison kid played college ball with Purdy. He's made a few plays over the years with the Texans. I just don't think we do much at WR since help is on the way.

West was playing thru injuries so that explains why he looked bad this year. He should be a lot better when he returns fully healthy.

We need to make sure he is not playing at all when the postseason gets here.

Don't even know how he's stuck on the team this long. Mediocre returner, short, no real utility on offense except supposed speed which hasn't once been capitalized on. In my eyes, he plays scared. His only real play came in a preseason game. He doesn't have the heart to be what we need at the position if we're going to win a championship.
