Devers is still owed nearly $250 million through 2033 if anyone cares. The team might have a functional rotation and bullpen by that point.

Bonds didn't hit as many doubles because so many went out of the park. He also was walked so often that it took the bat out of his hands. 13 seasons with over 100 walks. One year he was walked 232 times with 100 intentional. Led the league 11 times. He only struck out 100 times once in his career. Imagine the numbers he would have put up if they had pitched to him more often. He's the only player to ever hit 500+ HRs and steal 500+bases. It's not even close. Mays probably could have done it but he stayed on first rather than steal 2nd so they would pitch to McCovey. There just aren't many power hitters capable of hitting 500 HRs that have enough speed steal 500 bases..
I doubt that anyone else will ever do it because teams don't steal as much now. Ohtanin probably has the ability to do it but at 32 years old he only has 176 SBs. Still what Devers may do is a great accomplishment. Ohtani came close in 2024 with 38 doubles and 54 HRs.

At least this team isn't going to lose 100 games. I don't see them going 2-15 to close the season.
Yesterday during the TV telecast they mentioned that the current group of relievers doesn't include anyone that was on the roster to start the season. It's hard to believe that. I'm not sure I've ever seen an entire bullpen turnover like that during the season. They're starting the youngest players in the league. Devers is the only true vet and he's not that old. Having Schmitt, Adames and Chapman out is giving them a chance to see what some of the younger less heralded players can do.

He's owed 199.5 mil over the next 7 years, which is chump change now.

in reality they will be paying him til 2043 that's the contract folks, it's deferred so he'll be on the payroll when bryce eldridge is retired to put it in perspective, eldridge will be 39, and i'm pretty sure if you survey gms they will tell you SF would have to eat money to trade out devers that's how bad the deal sucks
teams won't take it as is even with his recent hot streak cuz gms don't want fat, bad attitude DHs who suck in all baseball aspects other than some hitting, and btw he's struck out 159 times, arraez is a better player at 12m annual by so much it's crazy, better attitude, better pure hitter, better fielder, etc. we are kind of in the stone age looking at the back of the baseball card, the old he good he hit ball hard mentality, team losing so many games cuz he doesn't really move the needle on winning, he's not an all around player

Indeed. Bonds is still my favorite player. I remember the walks and the singles 110mph off the rf walk. STILL, he didnt get 40hr 402b 100rbi. arenado and donaldson did it 2015 last.

lol Devers isn't fat, he doesn't have a bad attitude, he's put up superstar numbers since he's been here, and he's not even 30. You sound ridiculous.

This team will have a quicker rebound with devers and eldridge in the middle of the lineup, building the middle is the hard part, rebuilding the rest of the lineup will be easier. I really dont care about devers deal, hes still a baller, adames is the big problem.

Anyone who thinks Luis Arraez is a better baseball player isnt worth having a discussion with.
