2026 San Francisco Giants Season Thread

Now Devers is out for the rest of the season. One of the last reasons to watch the games and now he's gone too. Just when I thought the season couldn't get worse we miss the chance to see a Giant hit 40 HRs for the first time in over 20 years.
wonder if we'll put a statue out front for the 90 loss 37 homer season that was 3.8 war as i check pro baseball reference as of this moment i am doing it live in terms of checking PBR and he's 3.8 war, maybe the statue can be him flipping the bird to tony put that out front in honor of the great season that was

We get it. You don't like Devers even though he's the best power hitter on the team. I don't give a crap about war. That's one of those BS stats that some nerd made up. Means about a much as passer rating in football. If you don't enjoy seeing HRs than fine.

It's not a matter of not liking devers, it's a matter of liking SFG. i didn't like the trey lance trade. it was nothing against lance. i just want to win. so i like winning moves, it's an all time bad move that set us back half a decade. proof is in the standings. i'll take kyle harrison a local product and over $200m over raffy. it's not an axe to grind with raffy, it's an axe to grind with crap baseball decisions that lead us into the cellar.

It's over. The trade was made and Devers is delivering. It does no good to keep whining about somehting that can't be changed. Devers isn't the reason they're a bad team. With no salary cap they could have done a better job in the off season addressng a terrible BP. Instead they ignored it. A solid set up man and and a good closer would have resulted in several more wins. On top of that they had a rookie manager that had to spend much of the year trying to figure out which players fit where. Then they lost Chapman and Schmitt. They had issues at catcher all season. I lost track of how many they went through. Then they traded Arraez. All of these issues contributed to a chaotic bad season.

If they can spend the off season rebuilding the BP and trying to find 2 more good starters they coud turn things around next year. They found some young players that can certainly contribute and the return of Chapman and Schmitt along with the continued development of Eldridge certainly can't hurt. We might also see Bo Davidson and some other players from the monors that show a lot of promise.

i can bold if you like, if you care to have a convo which i am guessing you do not

so it was saying i'll take arraez at 12m over raffy at over 200m and into his mid 30s. maybe me making more clear, despite it being there in black and white, will help foster the convo along, carry on..

That isnt what you said. You said he is a better player and then said his contract. You may have thought you meant he is better FOR the price point, but that isnt what you said.

Not to mention you talk about Devers "into his mid 30s" yet fail to acknowledge that he is only 5 months older than Arraez.

saying he's a better player at 12m is exactly what that is saying... we don't have arraez signed til he's 36 do we, maybe put me back on mute so i don't have to deal with this

So if I said that Eldridge is better at 21 years old than Jung Hoo Lee is at 28 years old, am I saying that Eldridge is better relative to his age or just that he is better? Exactly.

Putting you back on mute isnt a terrible idea actually. You have the worst takes on this board by a mile.

well that's what's great about a forum you can read it wrong, and i can explain it to you and you can debate my point or avoid it looks like you want to dodge the point, point was arraez on his deal was many times a better move than devers on his, also i said stuff like arraez is probably better than devers in the field (neither is that great but edge arraez) and he's a better contact 'pure' hitter cuz he is, i also said better attitude cuz i don't see him waving off tony and so forth.. teams can choose to spend money wisely or like idiots and the standings probably are a good reflection of which team is doing which

Notice how you completely ignored my comparison and went back to accusing me of reading it wrong?

Back on mute you go. Enjoy arguing with everyone else.

well maybe explain why the team sucks, if all posey's moves like devers are great, it's kind of nonsensical to think posey is making the right moves when the standings speak very clearly on the subject. devers is hitting well, he was dropped in my fantasy and i have him for all this hot streak, it's great, but i can admit he's maybe good in fantasy he's not a good all around mlb player. when you talk 5 tool he's at most a 2. and yeah he openly trashed tony and got angry during his 'apology' he's not a leader.
1) no one gives a crap about your fantasy team
2) no one said that all Buster's moves are great - so just stop with that BS
3) Devers has given the team what they wanted from him - POWER. Never was he considered a base stealer or a great fielder.
4) It IS possible for a GM to make a good move (Devers) and screw up in other areas (pitching especially the bullpen). Overall, Buster has not done
a very good job but he did a good job in the draft, made some good deals at the deadline to get prospects, and has improved their farm system. The goal should be to be a contender in 3 or 4 years when their kids are ready and hopefully there is a salary cap in place.

you don't buy devers in 2025 to be a contender in 3-4 years. that makes less than zero sense. if you are saying that the devers, adames, and those deals are so bad that we need to have them run their course and be good in a few years i agree

lol, never seen this much praise for 90 losses before and bad contracts, and also no having a fat bad attitude player doesn't 'help'

did devers help casas in boston, i don't think so that's delusional posting

200m dollar hitting coach that's a new one, chefs kiss to posey for that stroke of genius, or maybe it was just a stroke

tell me more about your baseball expertise, how did you learn so much about the game? perhaps, you should write a book.

write down your takes into a journal and pretend like your posting here.

i'm a fan in a fan forum

it's a 90 loss season what do you want from me do we throw a parade?

buster spent half of a billion with a B on chap, adames and devers and that core is doing good to you maybe, but not in reality, maybe you see devers 200m for 3.8 war as deep value

No one knew Lance was gonna be as bad as he turned out, everyone knew he was raw with the right athletic skills but it just failed miserably.
Boom goes the dynamite!
