The whole thing was worth it to the Astros. They still have a very talented team and won a WS. The penalty doesn't fit the crime.

$5M is a drop in the bucket. 4 picks is big but not that big.
Wow, this is worse than a death penalty. Guys used steroids for years and little to no response from MLB. However, steal a sign and go straight to hell.
Astro's Owner says that World Series victory "Not Tainted" by this.
So players weren't punished. I guess the MLB doesnt want to have to deal with MLBPA or something.

LOL. No it isnt. Not even close

There are rules in place for this now. What kind of response are you expecting from MLB. The system they have in place works.

However, steal a sign and go straight to hell.

No longer sure if you are being facetious with this post or not.

1000% agree.

Ask a fan of any team (or front office member for that matter). Would you pay $5M and lose 4 draft picks for a title? I think the Yankees may be the only team in baseball that would turn that idea down. Everyone else would sign up so quick.

Bottom line is, MLB explicitly stated that the punishment would be harsh enough that teams wouldnt do this again. I think they categorically failed if that was their true intent. This tweet put it best:

Lol no it isn't.
What I find stupid is that the players were in on this. In a sport where doing a bad thing gets a player in trouble (drugs, peds, steroids, domestic violence, etc), no Astros player will get punished. Incredible.
Wow. Players are going in on Altuve,Springer and Correa on twitter.

" I'd like my career numbers erased against them."

And MLB doesn't understand why most fans just laugh at the league now. Drugs in the 80s, roids on the 90s and 2000s, juiced balls, and now this. South American soccer leagues have more integrity than the MLB.
I thought the Astros got off very easily. No post season ban??? Man again sports dropping the ball. What a shame
