Which do you enjoy more, boxing or MMA?

Watching UFC tonight I have seen knockouts, wrestling, takedowns, chokeholds, different styles of martial arts, and more complex and exciting bouts. I'm not here saying there are not boring fights or let downs in MMA, but imo there's just a whole world of different aspects that make it superior.

Imo mma is borderline staged. In boxing if you are out of position or have your hands down you will get caught. Too many grey areas in mma for me. Hands around necks but not actually choking. What are the rules on bending your opponents joints? When their standing squared up wtf do they embrace each others heads waiting on the other to knee? Don't get me started on the ground "game".

Too hokey pokey for me.

You put your hands down in MMA you will get caught with bare hands not some huge glove. And about hands around the neck, it's part of body position and defensive technique. You try to choke someone with your hands and it's not going to work. Basically every aspect of MMA is position and body control, one of your main points in boxing.

Not 100% sure what you mean by "rules of bending joints" but there are certain holds for a reason. They are to submit you. Just wrestling around trying random submissions won't work because tactically fighters can get out of a majority of holds/chokes. It takes training in martial arts to get into holds and out of them.

I guess it's all preference though, I don't mind boxing, I just feel there is a lot more to MMA.

MMA there is no room for mistakes. The rules on "bending opponents joints" are tap or the limb gets broken. "Embracing each others heads" is called a plum clinch coming from Muay Thai and is one of the most effective ways of controlling an opponent. "ground game" is where most actual fights end up and therefor why BJJ is one of the most effective martial arts a person can train in for self defense.

Boxing may be the sweet science but MMA is more like quantum physics, there are so many more aspects one has to be aware of or else a fighter gets owned.

Yeah...totally fake
Boxing? Like Mayweather out scoring people and not inflicting damage... No, I'll take MMA. Boxing was good, but it's been upgraded to MMA.

Its in the rules. You have to give the opponent a chance to knee you, then you can return strikes proportionate in damage. Choking is also not encouraged. It makes the fight too short and eventful. What they want is a slow, drawn out slap-boxing "match", like traditional boxing.

James Toney and a few others thought it was hokie too. They no longer believe that.

If anyone was on the fence about this before watching last night's UFC fights, welcome to the right side of the fence. Probably the best group of fights i've ever seen. Not a single snoozer.
