Well, mma fighters can go back to making sh*t money while boxing continues to die making more money for their top fighters.
McGregor had to do all this to get that type of paycheck.

Boxing fans hate every bit as hard on MMA.
Its all so stupid. Neither sport is superior to the other, its a matter of preference and some like both. Dont like MMA, then dont watch...dont like boxing, then dont watch.
UFC fans hate a lot harder from what I've seen. "Boxing is dead." Heard that the last 15 years. Not going anywhere and top end cards still make WAY more bread
You are seeing only one side of it because of the outcome. Had Conor beat Floyd, we'd see the "it was fixed", "it was a fluke", "Floyd is 40 and been retired for 2 years" excuses among many others. The haters on both sides were always going to hate no matter what happened.
Boxing isnt dead. People love to hate, and all that hate accomplishes nothing.

lulz typical noob response -- probably has no idea who GGG is ,a dude Mayweather wouldn't even fight.
The fight was awesome. I'm not gonna pick it apart like others. 2 warriors. I never liked Floyd but I give him credit for going after it.
As far as boxing goes? Lol. It's gonna go down hill after this. They had an amazing opportunity to gain a whole lot of new fans and they failed big time. The prelims I was falling asleep. The first PPV fight was weak. The co main was ok except the weird stoppage. Then The McGregor stoppage. As MMA fans we've seen a lot worse so that's why we are saying it could have gone longer but since its boxing rules I understand. I don't agree, but that's why boxing is softer.
What is the point of having a 3+ hour PPV if no one is watching and no one is there until the Main event? Might as well just have 1 fight per PPV. I don't know. They're presentation was weak compared to the UFC. Also, what was up with the 2 statue corona girls at the presser? Why even have them stand there? We came for he presser not the girls. I know they were like, "please hurry up may." Lol. He was talking forever.

Conor didnt NEED that paycheck though. He made 40 mill in his last 3 MMA fights, but he definitely wanted that paycheck.

C'mon Now. I like boxing and ufc. I guess i just like 2 people trying to beat the s**t out of each other. But the ufc only guys must be delirious. The last ufc ppv card had the main event champion pop for roids AGAIN, had the president rip a fighter in the co main event for his performance and had a champion bow out at the last minute.
They are both thriving and doing just fine. Ufc sold for a awesome amount of money just imagine how much boxing would sell for if it was considered a single entity

I'm neither a boxing or MMA fan. I think a sport whose sole purpose is violence is rather dumb (as opposed to football or hockey where violence is ancillary to the goal of the game).
I thought this fight was dumb to begin with and McGregor had no business in a boxing ring. Well, from a profit/entertainment standpoint he had a very good reason. But in terms of athletic competition, the whole thing was dumb.
McGregor can not switch to boxing and be great at it in a short time. Mayweather fighting at 40 years old is pretty silly.
I was looking at some replays this morning and the fight looks even more lopsided. The blows that McGregor landed hardly phased Mayweather. McGregor is clearly a talented athlete, but has no business competing in boxing (unless he really did want to train and start from the bottom).

Can you explain what you mean by the violence in football is an "ancillary to the goal
of the game?" Goal in boxing is to win... just like football?

I've seen harder fights in celebrity boxing and charity events.LOL It was the hate for boxing that drove some of the viewers. Floyd vs any top boxers would bank $100mil. already. He didn't need MG side show. It was the hope that Floyd would get K'Oed and MMA would take over as the main combat prize fight. Oops on that. Haha

Never thought once he was gonna win, it was just as I expected. Just didn't think Mayweather was gonna box like a girl for the first 6 round and keep turning his back on McGregor. This boxing match certainly wasn't worth the hype or the money both were overpaid.

''boxing is dead.''
yet Conor has made 3x in one boxing fight that his whole UFC career. Even the announcer was low key sniping with the,''why would you go back to minimum wage ufc paychecks,Connor?''
''I'm now a free agent and open to anything.''
-Connor.
What oh WHAT will the UFC be without their golden boy Connor out of the mix? Jon Jones? oh wait he's a steroider.
Brock Lesnar? Oh wait he's a steroider in the WWE now.
Rhonda Rousey?
