Mayweather vs. McGregor

Really different views on the results and some silly posts about the state of boxing and MMA. I think we all knew Floyd would win this fight. One of the best fighters of all-time fought a guy who has never had a professional fight. Of course he would win, just like Conor would win in an MMA fight.

But props to Conor for taking a risk...Although the money makes it worth it. You don't know how a loss, specifically if he got KO'd really quick, would have impacted his reputation. He pushed the fight early, and gassed. He is known for gassing in the UFC so that's no surprise. He landed some shots and I think he had a respectable performance. I also think he had some classy comments after and respected the learning experience. Heck, he has never had a pro boxing fight and lasted nine rounds with one of the all time greats.

Anyone who makes more out of it than that is just trying to overstate a show. In the end, this was an event...a show, not a world title fight of any kind.

Yah boxing paid Mayweather and McGregor that much money, was it worth it, HELLLL NO!!!!!

It took a contract of what, $400 million for Mayweather to come out of retirement, you would have to be one of the dumbest people in the world to NOT come out of retirement for that kind of money!!! Shoot I'd fight and box anyone in the world for that kind of money, who wouldn't, only I wouldn't turn my back on them and cover up like a little p***y!!!

That was the easiest pay day for both, that was a s**t show, I've seen amateurs look more exciting than what happen last night.

What will the UFC do without Jones, McGregor and Lesnar Da fuQ!!!! Lol are you saying the UFC can't survive without them or something!!!

That's the funniest thing Ive been hearing the last 17 years is Boxing is dead. Boxing isn't going anywhere, just like MMA isn't going anywhere either. I am a fan of both and I just love fights, but I'm a boxing fan since 1988, it's a sport that I was involved in growing up. I'm sure I would've competed in MMA also, but I was too old by the time it got popular. We did bash each other's face back in 1994 when we watch the first UFC video.
But when I hear people say that the fight was stopped too soon and in MMA they recover faster...LMAO. Mcgregor didn't think it was stop too soon during the fight. He was being cradled by the ref like a little baby and his mouth wasn't even popping off. LMAO

Lol why are people so bitter? I like both sports so have no quarrel but i sense some major insecurities on both accounts.

As rubs said, this was strictly an entertainment fight and personally I enjoyed it and it brought attention to both sports.

After the boxing match, McGregor said it himself it was stopped too soon that mentally he was there but he was just fatigued. He would've loved to have been knocked down is what he said after. I gotta agree with that, the hype they built around this boxing match like it was gonna be an all out war or something!!! This type of event doesn't happen all the time, let it go and let'em fall.

What's insane, and is a credit to the PR job, was the general public perception of mcgregor's chances. Majority still thought Floyd would win, but doubt crept into lots of peoples' minds. Just look at the huge shift in cash on the Vegas books. Dana white on the radio saying Floyd has been in the strip clubs til 4am. The change to a smaller glove. All carefully crafted by al haymon who is a genius at fight marketing. They did a lot of s**t to make it seem like mcgregor had a chance. And it did work.

It's an understandable comment coming from a MMA fighter out of his element but he wasn't protecting himself anymore in boxing that's the end. Too many guys have had their brains scrambled before their legs gave out.
